We know enough from these threads to know that’s not true. The problem is that most Catholics don’t know what the Catholic Church really teaches.
My thanks to those people who were willing to answer!
Well for one thing they should EXCOMMUNICATE them if they refuse to repent, publicly ...and not have High funeral masses for them thus comforting their sons and colleagues that love partial birth abortions..
It is hypocritical to say the church is pro life and then kiss the butts of the politicians that publicly claim Catholicism while they support and vote for it.
Although most Evangelical and Reformed churches oppose abortion they do not view it a "mortal sin" and build an entire industry out of their opposition..
I would hope they would call any official that publicly supports and votes for it accountable before their elders and if there is no repentance yes ...remove membership from them
To be honest, I have only met one pro abortion "Christian" she was actually a pregnant "Church of Christ " minister.. pregnant with her 2nd child. . She was in her 40's and mentioned she had a amniocentesis the day before ..so I asked her if the baby was abnormal if she would have an abortion..when she said yes I wanted to throw up.. CoC is one of the old line very liberal churches ..like Episcopalians and Methodists..She made me sick
Evangelicals and Reformed churches tend to be pro life..last Sunday we had a "Life Sunday" service ...
I believe God can and does forgive anyone that comes to Christ repents..
Years ago, when I worked our agency had a client, a recovering heroin addict..she was a sweet young woman that had a 7 year old daughter.. and some health issues..
She was pregnant and her doctor recommended an abortion ... my clinic was helping to line one up for her.. I was the RN at that location.. she came into my office one day, she was weeping..she told me when she was laying on her sofa the night before she heard her baby saying "please don't kill me" ... I tried to comfort her..I went to my boss and asked him to help support her through the pregnancy ..(At that time there was a RC agency that took in unmarried pregnant women and hooked them up with skilled OB's )... I asked to hook her to that.. he told me her OB felt a pregnancy would be physically dangerous and he felt she would relapse if she had another baby....
She had the abortion and then committed suicide 2 days later...
My heart still breaks when I think of it
We do agree because life is precious to both of us.. and we know the real victim of abortion is not just the baby..it is the mom too
What a sad story.
I was in the hospital once for several days and had to undergo a number of tests. What bothers me is that some of the consents are in so much detail- what kind of detail do these moms get as to what's going to happen to their babies? What about afterward? Do any of these places provide counseling?
The March for Life is amazing! One year their program included a young woman who was unsuccessfully aborted. She has cerebral palsy, and spoke about her journey of forgiveness of her mother. It was an amazing testimony to God's Love and healing.
Thank you for writing! I believe in the sanctity of life from birth to natural death. If we could all unite in our nation on the pro-life issues, maybe we could have better elected officials- and our country would be back toward being "One Nation Under God" once again!
God bless you and your family!
Thank you for providing the info, and especially for sharing your experience. I worry with the healthcare system about where the elderly will be also...
And God bless you and your family
