Grace presbytery has stripped Joseph B. Rightmyer of his ordination as a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). The presbyterys Permanent Judicial Commission (PJC) ruling found Rightmyer guilty on eight counts related to the process that resulted in the departure of Highland Park Presbyterian Church from the denomination.

Rightmyer was ordained by the Atlanta presbytery in 1972. He served faithfully for more than 40 years

The PC in the name stands for Politically Correct.
They preached the gospel, in the 1800’s.
Didn’t that denomination just vote a thumbs up to same sex “marriage”? Heresy.
PCUSA was infiltrated/infested by a couple IslamoNazis into key positions in the church hierarchy....and its been straight away from the Bible since then.
Anybody who’s still in PCUSA — please look at what has happened to your denomination ... and get the H out ... ASAP!
There are other Presbyterian (and other Protestant) churches you can easily find that are still trying to preach and follow the Christian faith
Let me guess: His local congregation did not wish to embrace homo marriage or something of the sort?
If so, he can be mighty proud of leading them off the road to hell.
At least we know that the PCUSA still practices discipline if the preacher does something outrageous like pastoring his flock. He was serving as interim pastor when the church voted to leave the denomination.
ROTFL - I'd wear it as a badge of honor.
I wonder what pushed him over the edge. I’d have bailed long before he was ordained.
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.” (Matt. 23:13)
Matt 23:15 also has:
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
This just further confirms the fact that the church needed to get out from under the horrid PCUSA.
That church should turn its back on PCUSA and shake the dust off its feet. Then go OPC or PCA.
I once heard the "pastor" of a PCUSA church deny Christ from the pulpit. He said,
"Let's get away from this idea that Jesus was God."
He was dead from Lou Gehrig's disease within two years.
Agreed.
“He was dead from Lou Gehrig’s disease within two years.”
Not certain that this applies here but...
“...false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.”—2 Peter 2:1
I never met Rightmyer, but I understand that he was vested in his retirement, and realized that ‘they’ might take this kind of action against him, but figured that it was better for him to take the fire than it would be for it to be someone who they could actually hurt.
The whole situation at Highland Park finally blew up when the Presbytery dictated that Scates’s replacement had to come from one of only a handful of the many PCUSA seminaries.
They went ECO, whose motto should be, but isn’t, “A home for homophobic liberals”. H. Ross and his crowd didn’t seem to have any problem with ordaining women. They didn’t seem to have any problem with the denominational stand on abortion. They were willing to fund a slick campaign against a 1991 vote on switching to the PCA. It’s only when the denomination came out in favor of ordaining active homosexuals that they flinched. OPC and PCA shouldn’t want them. EPC might take them if they moderated a bit.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake. This man is blessed.
When attending a church, ask your self if a non-Christian attending your church would hear the gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation.
Quote about Joseph B. Rightmyer from the article:
“From 1995 to 2004 he served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Presbyterians for Renewal (PFR).”
PFR’s board of directors is at this link...
http://www.pfrenewal.org/about-us/board
The PFR board is currently comprised of 7 women pastors/elders, 4 men pastors/elders.
Evangelical Covenant Order/ ECO is now the denomination of the Church.
