So if Timothy Dolan, a catholic priest, has loosed someone for this or has forgiven them for this, then based on catholic teaching then Heaven has to be bound on this....based on catholic teaching.

And now God is bound to do it.

Puts them in quite a pickle, doesn't it?

Once again, you misstate Catholic teaching on three or four points, in three or four sentences.

You have wearied me. Thus, you “win.”

Of course, you win through barrages of distortions and smears, not rational, accurate statements.

But it’s “winning” of SOME sort, and I guess you have become accustomed to being satisfied with gruel rather than steak.

All that material is about bishops who are not corrupt apostates. No bishop or priest has the authority to give absolution to an unrepentant person.

Urban sure thought he did....based on what he had been taught by catholicism.

So are you saying these guys are wrong also?

What Is To Be Observed and Avoided the Election of the Roman Pontiff

Simony wrong but not invalidating

Like Our predecessors, We reject and condemn the detestable sin of simony in the election of the Roman Pontiff and We impose an automatic excommunication on all who are guilty of this sin. At the same time, however, We also confirm the act of Our predecessor St. Pius X in canceling the invalidity of a simoniacal election as established by Julius II or any other pontifical decree. This We do lest the validity of the election of the Roman Pontiff be attacked.

Apostolic Constitution of Pope Paul VI on the Vacancy of the Apostolic See and the Election of the Roman Pontiff issued on October 1, 1975.

The power to “bind and loose” is not the power to “force heaven” to condone crimes and sins. It is the power to make particular law and to make judgments in accordance with the already-revealed laws of God.

Which is what CB has been saying all along that he is constantly being castigated by Catholics as being wrong about.

Man, you're thin skinned.

I'm sorry you view it this way. However, I've provided you with examples of catholic teaching and real world cases and yet all catholicism can do is run away.

I hope these little chats help point out the fallacies of catholicism.

It sure seems when catholicism is challenged with its own teachings, it runs from them like a scared rabbit.

If these were my beliefs I'd be ready to defend them at a moments notice.

As you're tired and "wearied", I'll bid you a good night.

And now there is a catholic priest on record agreeing with us lowly unlearned, uninformed, can't understand the Bible....."protestants".

LOL!

Hey, it’s like I’ve said before. Catholics take both sides on every issue so no matter what a non-Catholic says, some Catholic can come along and tell them they’re wrong.

. Heaven has to accept Urban's forgiveness of their sins.

Which is certainly a related doctrinal issue at present. But RCs conclude God does not have a choice.

With regard to the mystic body of Christ, that is, all the faithful, the priest has the power of the keys, or the power of delivering sinners from hell, of making them worthy of paradise, and of changing them from the slaves of Satan into the children of God. And God himself is obliged to abide by the judgment of his priests, and either not to pardon or to pardon, according as they refuse or give absolution, provided the penitent is capable of it. " Such is," says St. Maximus of Turin, " this judiciary power ascribed to Peter that its decision carries with it the decision of God." 2 The sentence of the priest precedes, and God subscribes to it. .” – Dignity and Duties of the Priest, St. Alphonsus Ligouri, Vol. 12, p. 2 (whose writings were declared free from anything meriting censure by Pope Gregory XVL (1839) in the bull of his canonization). http://www.archive.org/stream/alphonsusworks12liguuoft/alphonsusworks12liguuoft_djvu.txt

But this power is not new, as has been shown , nor autocratic.

Your attempts to defend the drunkard heretic Luther are beyond ridiculous.

Just how is daniel1212 attempting to "defend the drunkard heretic Luther are beyond ridiculous."?

By espousing catholic doctrine?

How interesting that they use that when it’s convenient or fits their purpose. I suspect double speak coming soon.

You mean sort of like your protestant president and David Koresh, Jim Jones, Fred Phelps, and the legion of protestant whackjobs down through history.

No, of course i do not mean such, as by their works they testified they were not Protestant any more than you consider Ted Kennedy a real RC, but were all more like popes, irreprovable, isolationist, with their word being the supreme authority. . However, unlike us in the basic conservative evan. faith i preach (not a particular church as supreme) you try to attack, you are stuck with these as "brethren" since Rome treats them as members. Once again your attempts to defend Rome are an argument against her.

Your attempts to defend the drunkard heretic Luther are beyond ridiculous.

It is your absurd attempt at damage control that is ridiculous. Go find a Catholic who is willing to defend your un-reasonable arguments. I think many wish you would quit posting, or should.

Oh, those don't count, but we must follow and defend all that Luther taught or did, including the spurious parroted canards by RCS, since he was as an infallible pope in all that he said or did, or RCs attributed to him.

Default Roman Reasoning.

“Anders and Pacwa both have degrees in theology from Protestant institutions.

How many years have you spent getting degrees in Catholic theology from Catholic institutions?

Why do you practice a double standard?”

In process of working on one as we have these conversations. Emphasis is on the original languages.

But if we're gonna start requiring degrees to post you might as well close this forum.

Besides, some of the better posts have from folks without degrees. We can all read on our own.

The point is both Fr. Mitch Pacwa and David Anders imminently know what they are talking about and their credentials testify to that fact. No way of getting around it. Both men have degrees in PROTESTANT theology. So it’s really childish and silly to try and downplay what they are saying.

**Both men have degrees in PROTESTANT theology.**

FWIW, to the lurker, Pacwa has a PhD in Old Testament from Vanderbilt, which is not affiliated with any Protestant denomination. And that is certainly not a degree in “Protestant theology.” His under grad and grad degrees are from Papist institutions.
