I was not familiar with Msgr. Pope before becoming a FReeper, and I've come to look forward to these pings! I like his sense of humor, perhaps today more so than ever- I'm still chuckling over that one...
I like the way he took that tricycle and managed to see a lesson in it. That's the kind of wisdom the people in the old country had: they learned from what they saw around them; from others'experience; from the circumstances they had to live under, just everyday life in a difficult world. Though illiterate, they had an understanding of the world around them, and the Faith to live in it.
