Christmas According to Matthew, Luke, and Obama

After expounding repeatedly about who or what is Islamic, President Obama continues to assume the role of America’s theologian in chief by giving us his twist on the “Greatest Story Ever Told.”

Obama injected his private interpretation into the Christmas story to bolster support of his executive amnesty for millions of illegal aliens. As reported by Charlie Spiering of Breitbart.com, Obama told an audience of amnesty advocates at a town hall meeting in Nashville, Tenn. on Dec. 9:

“If we’re serious about the Christmas season, now is the time to reflect on those who are strangers in our midst and remember what it was like to be a stranger.… As I said the day that I announced these executive actions that we were once strangers too, and part of what my faith teaches me is to look upon the stranger as part of myself. And during this Christmas season that’s a good place to start.” Mary and Joseph were not excluded from Bethlehem’s inn because they were poor “strangers,” much less illegal aliens. The inn was fully occupied. It would have been unthinkable to remove guests the innkeeper had already accepted and give their room to others. He made room such as he had, and there’s no mention of him charging Mary and Joseph.

I get so annoyed when The Holy Family is used as an illustration of illegal immigration or even homelessness.

1. Joseph was of the lineage of David, so when he went to Bethlehem he was actually RETURNING TO HIS HOME TOWN.
2. Joseph was a self-employed craftsman who earned a good living and had a home and small business in Nazareth.
3. Joseph was a TAXPAYER, and was being forced by an oppressive government to his home town to register for Tax Purposes.
4. Joseph received NO Largess from other taxpayers for his journey, and it is presumed that he paid for the journey out of his own funds.
5. Joseph and Mary probably would have preferred to have their Baby in Nazareth, since having Him in Bethlehem would not have made Him an automatic citizen of Bethlehem and thus an “Anchor baby”.
6. After fleeing from Bethlehem to Egypt, Joseph was able to wait out Herod’s rule and return to his real home, Nazareth.
And that is just a few of the differences!

Merry Christmas!

The innkeepers were probably Jewish so it wouldn’t surprise me if they did charge Joseph for the “deluxe” manger room will rollaway trough.

” get so annoyed when The Holy Family .....”

Same here. Just shows they don’t know their Bible.

In those days, an “Inn” was actually a Caravanserai. The human guests slept upstairs, and their many animals were quartered on the ground floor. In all likelihood, the Innkeeper allowed Mary and Joseph space on the ground floor, in which case he was being merciful. He could have sent them away, but fee or not, he gave them space when all the “human’ rooms were filled up.

PS, I have been to Bethlehem, and the accepted spot by all the churches is a CAVE, not a wooden shed as most manger scenes depict.

Wood was scarce enough without using it for animal shelters.
