You are in a large crowd of confused protestants and evangelicals, so you are not alone in your confusion.

The tenor of your argument is combative, so I’ll skip trying to convince you using scripture - especially Luke 1 (the entire chapter, since that is where the ‘Hail, Mary’ comes from) or John 1:1-12 (especially verse 5 - to which all scripture can be reduced).

Jesus Christ is the Living Truth, and if you do not honor the Truth entirely then you do a disservice to yourself.

I know this was not directed at me but you are wise, as this has clearly raised hackles on me (and I am a lost Catholic, even!).

I shall withdraw from this discussion as I have referred it to those who are both more knowledgeable and wiser than I.

Luke 1 is about Jesus. The "Hail Mary" prayer is based on a poor translation of the Vulgate used by DR.

John 1...especially v5 is about Jesus.

I regret you feel comparing catholicism with the Word is combative.

We honor the truth when we follow the greatest commandment....love the Lord God with all your heart.....

We would do well to follow the angel's command to John in Revelation 22 when John fell down before the angel to worship him......Do not do that......Worship God.
