Jim Jones was around in 1978, tha Navigators in 1933, other than the 45 years, what's the difference??? Pope Francis vs the Evil Popes what's the difference? Francis and the naughty Popes were all leaders of the Roman Catholic church, thus Christianity. Some leaders, however, are better than others but all of the Popes led true Christianity. Jim Jones went off on a tangent and strayed from the truth as did the navigators. The naughty Popes did not try to change Christian faith nor morals and lead pepople FROM the truth. Jones and other denominational leaders did. What's the difference???

Let's try some easy math: I Knew that as soon as you mentioned the naughty Popes, Mary's time line couldn't be far behind!!!!
I seem to recall, however, that there is no time in Heaven thus she could pretty much handle all those requests in what we might refer to as a moment....easy for God!!

Catholicism is not a denomination, it is Christianity in it's purest form.
A claim many FReepers have heard previously many times.
Still is not provable. Still is untrue. Just a claim of superiority by members of ONE of many religious groups that incorporate their own version of Jesus of Nazareth somehow into their own belief systems and traditional practices.
The RCC is not the only cult to make the OTC claim now or in the past.
And as you know, there are those FReepers who cling to, believe in, and walk in the Spirit in Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone and are the called-out of this world that Jesus called His Church. No other Name whereby men can be saved. No organizational name either.

>>I pointed out that Jesus was also sinless and He died, why couldn't she???<<
"and He took upon Himself the sins of us all". That's why He had to die. Who's sins did Mary take on? Or did she die because of her own sin?

Fatima, although probably very true and authentic, is not a dogma of the Catholic church... PROBABLY??? Yeah, probably....I believe it because there is enough physical evidence to convince me...the Church, however, does not require me to do so. I'm sure that there are many protestants who leaan toward belieeveing it and a few Catholics who aren't sure....that's O.K......and I believe in the Virgin's appearance at Lourdes and Guadalupe too.

Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Oooops.

The account of judgment presented in Matthew 25:31-46 is unsettling for those who hold on to the doctrine of salvation happening at the altar call, secure since then, and not a result of good works as well as faith. Therefore many construct fantastical theories to explain that away and others become angry.
What happened in this case, I don’t know, but if I frustrated anyone’s expectations I apologize. I am available to explain this or any other scripture; this job is easier when the questions are framed clearly.

my edit in bold:

Youre set in your religion and will defend it
regardless of what because it is true and apparently are not going to change your views.
Fixed it for you to reflect reality.

Reality (Truth) and opinions are not necessarily the same things, verga.
You have chosen to commit yourself to the RCC and I understand that.

No other Name whereby men can be saved. No organizational name either. of course...to each his own....I however, read the part where Jesus established a church (upon this Rock I will build my CHURCH) and I fugure that as long as He and the Apostles established and died for, and during the establishment of that church, I ought to at least belong to it. Can you imagine Christ, the Apostles and the Evangalists sitting around a table....looking over the scriptures and Gospels and deciding...lets everyone go our own way and let all the people decide on their own what the road to salvation is. Who needs a system, who needs organization?? Peter, you teach what you want....Paul interpret things the way you see fit and James and John, well you guys just go and do your own thing....
Perhaps it didn't happen that way.....fortunately!

Neither do I. Another poster jumped in and confusion reigned from then on.

What you invented in your post is imaginary but not spiritual. It exhibits the carnal mind working hard to explain spiritual things it cannot even sense, much less see and comprehend well enough to explain to another.

Oooops. no Ooooops necessary, Catholics are still first and foremose Christians....however, Christians became referred to as Catholic by the end of the first century....maybe the Jewish community didn't like the word Christian...who knows?? It matters not when, all that matters is that it was Christ and His followers who became known as Catholic.

Yes indeed. I was doing some research on the first use of the term “Catholic Church” and found that it was first used in what many now consider forged letters attributed to Ignatius. Other than some probably forged documents it wasn’t until 100 years after the death of John that it was referenced and then only as “catholic Christian” referring to universal faith.

I suppose you refer to the letters supposedly by Ignatius who many now consider forgeries?
