The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
Paul didn't reject either Christ or the writings now called the New Testament.
That Catholic Church has rejected the beliefs and construction of the New Testament "church" and can no longer be considered a part. No where in scripture was it condoned to allow error among the ekklesia. We are instructed to not allow those who continue in error to even assemble with us as believers.
Acts 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
Just so there is no confusion that is in the New Testament.
Can you point me to where Irenaeus points to one single tradition not found in Scriptures; or that the traditions he alludes to come orally and not verifiable by Scriptures?
Yes. Nowhere does it say that everything He passed to us was written down; in fact, John 20:30 that you cite, and John 21:25 say the opposite.
Well that says a lot. Your statement tells me that those traditions not found in scripture are superfluous "for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Because John clearly stated: " But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." What's more than life through Jesus Christ?
So am I to understand then, based on your defense of John 20:30, you are agreeing that there are other traditions taught which were passed down (obviously orally since we have no record written from the Apostles) but did not meet the standard of Holy Spirit Inspired Scriptures? Yet, we have Jesus Christ, John and Paul telling us what we need for understanding God's plan of salvation, righteousness and holy living are all contained in Holy Scriptures.
and John 21:25 say the opposite
John 21:
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
Indeed. Please list those things so important they did not make the cut? The Gnostics made such claims as well.
Mat 16:19 I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
αμην λεγω υμιν οσα εαν δησητε επι της γης εσται δεδεμενα εν τω ουρανω και οσα εαν λυσητε επι της γης εσται λελυμενα εν τω ουρανω (Matthew 18:18)
Mat 18:18 Verily I say unto you, what things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
He wasn't hiding anything, he was showing you the Greek word order with pertinent words bolded. The proper response is: Thank you.
Someone guided by the Holy spirit should have no trouble with the translation, unless......
That would be the Catholic way to dismiss for sure.
Then you are at odds with the teaching of the Catholic church over the centuries.
That means you are either in schism, a heretic, or a protestor.
God owes no man anything.
Too bad the Catholic God is so small, limited, and impotent that He has to depend on humans to do all the heavy lifting for him.
Y’all need a bigger God.
Paul was a well educated Jew. I will align myself with his teaching any day.
I didn’t think you could or would answer.
No Catholic has taken anyone up on that yet.
But that’s because we all know that no such evidence exists.
All those claims for *sacred tradition* are just so much smoke in the wind.
Catholics seem to seek first a degree don’t they.
Jesus be praised! Thanks for showing me, again, why I stay away from churches and organized religion.
Weird how your actions speak too loudly for me to hear what you're saying.
All I hear is "Let's get ready to rumble..." then you're ringing the bell to start the round.
And people wonder why Osteen is so popular...
So?
How does that qualify you to speak more authoritatively on spiritual matters than any of the rest of us?
Because there are some here posting who have degrees from Bible college and/or know NT Greek.
Then there are all believers who have the indwelling presence and enlightening of the Holy Spirit who was promised to us to guide us into all truth.
The LXX Septuagint canon predates it by about 350 years and is still used by Ethiopian Jews to this day.
Exactly new Covent new Rules.
Is what is on bible hub not scripture to you?
Only in the mind or narrow minded bigots and the ignorant.
The WORD, which doesn't change.
Still waiting for you to verify the accuracy of my statement. It should be very easy for a Greek scholar of your caliber.
when you received your theology degree....how many Greek classes were required?
