Will the real Joel Osteen please stand up?

Joel Osteen, Pastor of the biggest congregation in America, Lakewood Church, appears to be an Obama fan, despite the fact that Obama's agenda goes against everything true Christians believe. Those of us who are intelligent and observant were not really surprised, as we have known for a long time that Osteen's “I'm okay, you're okay” milk toast sermons are far from Bible-based and do not reflect in any way the beliefs of his father, John Osteen, who started Lakewood Church and preached the uncompromising message of Christ for multiple decades before his death in 1999. Joel Osteen, however he may have started out, is currently nothing more than a progressive in Christian's clothing.

Maybe so, but that's not what Christianity is about.
It's not about the here and now and having a comfortable, prosperous life, here and now.
It's about growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, operating in the mind of Christ, being conformed to His image, dying to self so that we might live to Him.
The prosperity gospel does a disservice to Christians. It's a works based religion where one's spirituality is judged by their level of material gain, which is not something God ever promised us.
Indeed, Jesus told us that in this world, we would have tribulation but to be of good cheer, as He has overcome the world, which is not giving us everything we demand of Him.
Osteen. Denied. Christ.

King asked him the same question he asked every other minister. “Is Jesus the only way?”
John MacArthur, Al Mohler and every other minister answers without blinking. Everyone know this question was coming. Osteen waffled and said he didn’t know.
He is not a minister of out Lord Jesus Christ. He obviously is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is a modern day Judas.
Those who deny Jesus before men, Jesus will deny before the Father.
I for one would not choose to follow someone who would deny Jesus. Just not worth it.

Ya know, Metmom and I will disagree on some positions we both think are pretty important tenants of the christian faith. But at the same time, when all is said and done, we will agree that we are Christians because of our faith in Jesus. We are repentant sinners and look to Christ alone for our salvation.
Osteen may give that lip service, but I have never heard him preach repentance and salvation. He is all about God owing us.
Jesus did not have to die so I can get a better parking place.
At the end of every service Osteen has a call for people to Accept Jesus as Savior and Lord of their Life.
You are a slanderer and you know what God says about that.
Live as you will, as I will not be your judge, God will.

Because he preached on sin and repentance and confession, or because *God's got a wonderful plan for your life, you just have to walk into it and believe that it's yours*?
How does that work out for all those Christians in Iraq who are watching ISIS behead their children?
Prosperity gospel preaching only works for well off, healthy people in the US.
Those dealing with chronic health issues are left out in the cold and told that they just don’t have enough faith, or they have sin in their lives, or whatever load of (expletive deleted) excuse they would throw are you.

What a weasel Osteen is.
He says *I don’t know* more than he mentions God and Jesus put together.
And in virtually his entire talk, unless someone brought up God, he didn’t address it.
It’s all about what he does, and what the church does, and their own efforts. God gets NO credit from Osteen for anything.
