You won't even consider that Jesus Christ would NOT found His Church on any other person than Himself. HIS Church; not Peter's!

I'm going with Messiah on this.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

“...this rock...”

WHAT rock?

The wavering, Lord-denying fisherman named Simon Peter but renamed Cephas (Rocky) by Jesus Christ?

Go with that erroneous interpretation and you could build the entire fabrication that is the RCC.

Even your Church admits it was on his confession rather than him as a person. And the truth from the Greek text shows what the keys are and what binding and loosing is. Many Catholics are learning of the lies the Catholic Church teaches.

I'm going with Messiah on this.

Glad you are.....now let's put the whole thing in context shall we? btw...in future postings it's customary to post the book, chapter and verse.

Matthew 16:13-19

13Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

14And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

What was Jesus asking?

Who did He ask?

What was the answer?

The answer to the above three is the rock upon which the church is built.

We see this in the text below. Jesus is the cornerstone.

Did the apostles lay a foundation? yes they did.

What was the foundation they laid?

You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He is the cornerstone.

Ephesians below reinforces this even more in verses 21 and 22 where it notes In Him the whole building is joined and In Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling....

Note that Ephesians is addressed to the Gentiles who are now Christians but calls us fellow members of His household.

We, that is all Christians, are to continue building on the foundation. It is not just reserved for members of the clergy. It never has been.

Ephesians 2:19-22

19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
