Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

Am I a sinner? Yes.
Has Christ forgiven me completely? Yes based on the above
Do I ask for forgiveness for when I fail or sin? Yes. But it's not that I need to be saved all over again based on the above. It is to restore fellowship with Him. It follows the Lord's Prayer.

PBS, are you lurking?
LOL! I see what you did there : )
NICE.
Discuss the issues, do not make it personal.
“you don’t believe”
“Mindreading” is making it personal.
I remember singing the first verse and refrain very loudly and then mumbling my way through the other verses.
Funny how TRADITION can stick with you and be so pleasant.
If one thinks the Holy Spirit is speaking through their organization, and you speak against that organization, then some can be confused into thinking you have blasphemed the Holy Spirit. The problem with that accusation is the only one who can bring it is Jesus Himself, because only Jesus was and is 100% infallible in knowing whether the true Holy Spirit has been blasphemed.
By way of example, the only Scriptural case in which that charged was laid was against the Pharisees, who were eyewitnesses to the Spirit working mightily through Jesus, yet accused Him of being empowered by Satan, That right there is the only validated instance of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
Which is why it is above anyone else’s pay grade to bring such dangerous accusations. As noted above, the only people who were ever officially accused of it were the Pharisees who were eyewitnesses to Jesus’ ministry, the most “religious” of men, righteous in their own eyes, and accountable, not to the word of God, but to their own whims, which they styled as the commandments of God, but according to Jesus were nothing but the traditions of men.
Much better to approach the matter with humility and fear of offending God with false, presumptuous judgments, and pray to God the errors of others may be forgiven them, as according to the Golden Rule we would hope the same for ourselves.
Peace,
SR
Quite a fitting reply considering the number of the post.
Thanks for the post.
Knowledge seasoned with wisdom.
...”Bloody awful scene. But PRAISE GOD for it! Believers in Jesus Christ are eternally thankful!”....
The awfulness of that scene should reveal to us the ugliness of our sins.... Too often sin today is “colored” as if it’s not that offensive to our ‘Holy’ God.... He’s become “small” rather than the Majestic and Awesome God that HE is......the Almighty God...the Alpha and Omega...the Beginning and the End...Our Great High Priest...Savior, Redeemer and coming King of all Kings! HE IS the Great I AM that I AM!
“Be still and know that I AM God.”......

It’s a sweet, simple song with so much wisdom, especially in the later verses.
And THAT’S our responsive reading for this morning.
I mumbled through them because we kiddos were in front of the congregation and were not holding songbooks. Projector? Naah.

“The early Church and todays Catholic empire are two entirely different animals”.
The early protestants and today’s protestants are
entirely different animals. The early protestants were basically still Catholic in their worship, from vestments to liturgy. Today’s protestants have no liturgy to speak of, wear no vestments, and have absolutely no authority, other than themselves.
The sacraments of the Catholic Church have been the same for thousands of years. Try learning some history of Christianity before you venture off into something you know nothing about, which is Catholicism.
Its too bad they didn’t teach you the whole song.
Unfortunately too many Churches of all “flavors” seem to fall away from teaching and fall into empty rituals.
The worst thing that can happen to a child is to stop them from asking “why.”
He does ask us to choose sides doesn't He?... It's either Him or 'something else'....and there will always be many something else's the enemy will 'dazzle' with, just as he did in the garden.
“At least, Protestants use Bible verses to back up what they write on here”.
Bible verses from that CATHOLIC document called the Bible.
Which was ‘a copy’ of the municipalities of Rome at that time. From the architecture of their buildings to the promenade of priests to the alter...all a copy of the “royalty” of Rome....which Jesus never established.
