Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

Man can not save anyone. Why not follow Jesus the Bible and it’s teachings?
So, y’all do not trust Jesus? I do. Let me tell you a little story. About 3 weeks ago, some wood fell on my foot. I went to the dr and when the nurse checked my BP, it was 190/95. I was put in a quiet room for a few minutes. The whole time I was in it, I was praying, “ okay, Jesus, it is up to you to handle this for me.”. The dr was going to send me to,the er if it did not go down and in a hurry. A few minutes later, the nurse checked it and it was normal. God has helped me get through losing a daughter, brother, husband, bil, and my mom in less than 3 years. A few days after my daughter’s death, my other daughter and I were in a store which had kids’ punching bags. I told her that was me. I could be knocked down but I popped right back up with God’s help. God is the answer not any man.
This has to be the biggest strawman argument for catholics to justify the control the priests exert over the membership.
We all sin. We know this as Paul admitted he struggled with some sort of sin. He didn't specify what it was. Was he conducting his life in anyway he chose??
If you are a believer in Christ you will produce good fruit for Him. That is a natural outgrowth of being a follower of Christ. At least it's supposed to be.
Having re-read this thread afresh this morning, I attest there are some RC thread-participants who cannot abide sincere discussion without invoking tactics of the Marxist Saul Alinsky.
A few posters (not all) that have identified themselves as RC resort to Alinsky response tactics without any hesitation. Firing questions to detract from what is being posted to these few is one familiar sign of a leftist Alinskyite, even if he is not aware that he has been brainwashed and trained as one. Quick uninformed judgments of and (humorous?) slurs against other non-RC posters are two more signs of their indoctrination.
Apparently, some (not all) of the RC posters are aware that their positions are indefensible and must resort to these devilish Alinsky devices to defend their customs of religion.
Please show me where I said this. If you can't please have the courtesy to apologize.
Take this, eat well, and get plenty of exercise and rest.

I believe mind reading is against the rules. Please remove the post and issue the token warning that will be ignored.
Thanks. People on here do not know what I have been through since 2004 when my daughter died and then all the others. I have been very sick with iron/folic acid anemia, low B12, low ferritin, thyroid problems, etc but God has a reason for this. I told a friend that maybe He was trying to teach me patience but if so, please, I already have enough of that. : ). Am just now getting over infection in both kidneys. When the wood fell on my foot, I told my grandson that his Grandpa was saying, “I told you, you are an accident waiting to happen.”. God bless.
She asked a question and you dodge in order to not directly answer the question?
Do you understand what a question mark at the end of a sentence means?
LOL I tell my wife often that she has lots and lots of patience. She must because she never uses any of it up.
Catholics need their strawmen. They cannot defend Catholicism with scripture.

Plus 1.
WEll first “Elsie is a he?”
And the comments seemed more promotional than condemning....I will try to understand the argument better...thanks.
I don’t agree with Catholic dogma, however those Jesus believers in the Catholic Church are part of the Christian Church. The Protestant vs Catholic fight is silly....I resist the ‘Catholics are only ones saved and the theology of dogma...but I still accept believers as part of the Church.
Yes. Why would you think different?
