It isn’t easy to “unlearn” things from the memory.
I don’t think many Christians understand mormonism - heck, I don’t think most mormons understand mormonism and how it is unBiblical. It is easier to write it off to “attacks” or people who couldn’t “live the life.” That preserves the illusion that mormonism is true and the fault lies outside the doctrine. I see RCs here follow the identical path.

In leading bible studies; I've found it MUCH easier to teach folks things that are in the bible; but very hard to UNteach them stuff that ain't!
