Why can we not have a married clergy here as well?

I once heard an interviewer speaking to the wives of clerics, mostly English women. THEIR comment was that it was almost impossible to be a good father to their children AND be an equally good pastor to the flock.
There simply weren't enough hours in the day.
SOMEONE had to "go without."

There was always a maxim that the WORST kids in the neighborhood were the kids of cops and MINISTERS.

Ask your Bishop. I don’t have the answer.

Permanent Deacons can be married. So, in fact, we do have some married clergy.

Deacons
Priesthood
Episcopate

The three levels of ordination.
