The YBPDLN Ping List is generally published infrequently but based on the exploits of the megachurch pastors posts can spike for a season. If you would like on or off of this list please FReepmail me.

I agree. I like John McArthur as he teaches straight out of the Bible. James 2 is straight forward. I believe Romans Romans 8.28 speaks volumes.
Honest to God I cannot see the reason for such vitriol flung at her. And I’m not an Osteen fan! I just wish Christians could just get a life and QUIT attacking each other! C.S. Lewis (that blasphemous idiotic fool) if you remember, said, “Prayer doesn’t change God, it changes us”, why he sounds absolutely narcissistic! Quit picking each other apart for gosh sakes! Use your power of context and think before you whine and complain. There are bigger fish to fry than the Osteen woman.
BTW, the Osteen ministry is a ministry of restoring joy to God’s people, many of whom desperately need joy in their lives.
the osteeens could have written “Jesus is on The Mainline “
a song which unashamedly declares:
“Jesus is on the mainline...Call him Up and Tell Him What You Want”
real CORE VALUES there alright.....
Great post!
I used to spend hours on the theological boards (mostly Carm)
discussing error and defending truth.
What comes across as Christianity today is sad.
Perhaps that is why people like Phil Robertson gets so much attention. He tells it like it is in love and does not apologize for his beliefs.
I have little use for Joel Osteen. However, I at one time had a boatload of his father’s books.
Can’t do it without Jesus.
RARELY does one hear Osteen even mention our Savior. Instead we are encouraged to gaze at our bellybuttons.
And you just picked apart a fellow Christian - the great C.S. Lewis!
***There are bigger fish to fry than the Osteen woman.***
She is one of the most recognizable heretics out there. Who pray tell is “bigger?”
In a nutshell;
Lewis: God changes us.
Osteen: God owes us.
Quite a difference.
The CS Lewis quote sounds like God wants us to conform to Him, which is the opposite of narcissistic. It says prayer is about achieving GOD’S will, not ours.
There is enough room in the frying pan for the Osteens to fit in...
Amen hulagirl.
A couple of things I do know -
1) the Osteen ministry has been raised up by God to help restore joy to many of God’s people who so desperately need more joy
2) Satan hates joyful, victorious Christians because they are the only danger to his kingdom in influencing others towards God. Defeated, depressed, angry Christians are no threat to Satan whatsoever and can actually help him in attacking victorious, joyful Christians.
Therefore, Satan attacks Joel and Victoria with great intensity. But God has given them great grace, however, to stay in peace and faith and not let others steal their joy. They are a wonderful example to me of winning the battle for the mind.
Today’s devotion is a good example:

Osteen is a raging heretic who denied Jesus on national TV.
Why do you defend him?
Honest to God I cannot see the reason for such vitriol flung at her.
She was encouraging selfishness it sounded like
No need for Osteens or anyone else. Take it from someone who has been called the “theological Einstein of our times,” from the mind of a brilliant German theologian. Yes, that’s Joseph Ratzinger and later Benedict XVI. All you need to do is read all 165 pages of his book: “On The Way To Jesus Christ” from Ignatius Press.
Curious. At the end of EVERY service, Joel invites people to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and prays the prayer with them to revive Jesus.
Maybe you should take a closer look at his services and ministry at Lakewood before joining the forces of darkness in not only accusing the brethren but attacking God’s anointed.
Nobody’s prefect and nobody fits in everyone’s mold. But hulagirl and the Bible both plead with God’s people to stop condemning other Christians. If Joel is not your cup of tea, move on, but be careful about attacking God’s anointed.
I used to think he was a “good-time Charlie.” Then one day about seven years ago it seemed like the Lord plopped them right in front of me and said, “Listen to them.” Once I did, I began to change from an incredibly negative Christian to a happy, joyful Christian, for all the reasons you describe in your post. You give good reasons for our joy and so does Joel. God has not called Joel to be a teacher but an encourager, an absolutely valid and needed ministry in the Body of Christ.
“” At the end of EVERY service, Joel invites people to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and prays the prayer with them to revive Jesus.””
Oh? Based on what? Certainly not sin.
Jesus did not die to get me a better parking slot.
