Victoria Osteen, wife of megachurch preacher and New York Times bestselling author Joel Osteen, is now facing withering criticism online for a viral video clip in which she is shown telling congregants at Lakewood Church that obedience, worship and church attendance is not for God but themselves.
"I just want to encourage every one of us to realize when we obey God, we're not doing it for GodI mean, that's one way to look at itwe're doing it for ourselves, because God takes pleasure when we're happy," she said in the 36-second clip posted on YouTube, with her husband smiling at her side in approval. "That's the thing that gives Him the greatest joy "
"So, I want you to know this morning: Just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy," she continued. "When you come to church, when you worship Him, you're not doing it for God really. You're doing it for yourself, because that's what makes God happy. Amen?" the clip ended as congregants cheered.
Erick Erickson, politicly conservative blogger and editor-in-chief of the blog site RedState.com, summed up his reaction to Mrs. Osteen's pronouncement in a quote from the 1995 movie "Billy Madison."
"What you've just said is one of the most insanely, idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent, response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. May God have mercy on your soul," it ended.

You made the claim. The burden of proof is on you. Of course you would provide them if they existed.
You made it up. It’s not true. They don’t exist. Just like purgatory.
I don’t want to look for something that is not there, but since you claimed you read them there, it’s up to you to prove they are or consider that your bluff was called.
Ive seen this tactic time and again. Someone makes some outlandish claim about what someone else believes, they state they read it on a thread, and then refuse to provide the information to verify when challenged. Which means they never had it in the first place.
The *Look it up yourself* line is a sure fire indicator that the person never had it in the first place and was throwing out claims hoping something would stick and they wouldnt get called on it by someone who actually knows better.
Having followed the thread further down, I chose to piggy-back on Metmoms response.
But I can be just as stubborn or stupid or what ever you want to call it as the next guy, I am not going to look up the link but you can find it just by going to religion and looking it up.

Did Paul invent or hijack Christianity?

I also am not going to give you any ones name , that I do not believe in.
The tittle its self should give any one an idea that there are people who believes one or the other, the thread would not be there other wise.
Did I ever mention that I choose to ignore liars? How about you?

Why waste time on a boorish liar?

No. The title gives the impression that there are some out there who think that some people believe that Paul invented Christianity.
It's irrelevant who you made the claim to.
, get back in the kitchen.
Sexism raises its ugly head.
Oooom what a he-man.
I'm so sacred.
Is that the best you can do when you've lost an argument?
I just couldn’t resist.

Oh gee, is it over? I was not aware of that, I just went back and read

Saw your name in there several times, it is hard to believe you involved your self if you did not even know what it was talking about.

That is not for you to decide, I will decide for myself.
Come on now if the two of you is not enough there are always some one else that will be glad to get on what they think is the winning side.
Did you go read the thread or are you like the other one who spent some time on it but then denied that there was such a thing?
**God doesnt want our worship,**
Yes, He does.
**God wants our obedience.**
Something we cannot give.
But the FAA was not at all amused with her little hissy fit:
FAA fines Victoria Osteen $3,000 (also being sued by a flight attendant claiming assault)
This includes worship.
Heb 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
We are stirred up to love and good works and encouraged by worship. It is for our benefit.
And these people want Catholic Priests to MARRY!!!!! OMG!
I did a little search. There is one site by Lewis Lofkin or something like that who claims Jesus did not found Christianity but Paul did. I have never heard of this person. I am very ill so that that was all I read. No mention of any denomination which believes this. Will try to do more when I feel better. Got stomach acid in my throat and lungs and have severe bronchitis.
“But the FAA was not at all amused with her little hissy fit:”
Big whoop, if you do anything at all bad on a plane you get arrested quickly. Getting a 3,000 fine for getting off the plane isn’t squat. I’m not a fan of the Osteens church or brand of religion, but you’ll have to do better than that incident
Actually, to expose the lies.
When Catholics feel someone says something about Catholicism that's untrue, they're all over people like white on rice.
We're constantly regaled with accusations of *hater*, *anti-Catholic basher*, bigot, heretic, etc.
I'm not going to sit by and let misrepresentations of non-Catholics stand either.
If the lies aren't countered, then people who don't know any better will believe them.
I’ll be praying for you.
