**Tough day yesterday for all of us....I know this journey will have its ups and downs....trying to stay in the moment and look forward....**
The Serenity Prayer......(say it every five minutes if you have to — I used it when my husband died.)
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Put it on a poster across from her bed, but don’t say anything; just let the message speak to her.
Amanda, with assistance, was able to walk the parallel bars 2x today...she was able to raise her left leg and move it forward....
Her eye sight appears to be improving slowly as well....she got her phone back yesterday.....and....she has been texting and calling up a storm....
Thanks to God..our prayers are being heard....please continue to pray for Amanda and for her continued Rehab to be extended to as long as is needed...we still have a long way to go....but things are moving forward....

Quick Update -
Amanda just informed me she was using a special type of walker to WALK down the hallway this morning....she required some assistance....however, the Rehab folks want her using a standard walker, unassisted, by the end of next week.
The good Lord is obviously with her.....she sounded so encouraged....I am trying to keep all of this in perspective and not get overly optimistic....but God be praised....never thought I would see this so soon.
Please pray that all those assisting her are guided by God’s will....and that she is given all the time needed in Rehab by the Hospital and Insurance Company...
I truly hope for you and your wife that everything turns out good. My cousin’s 18 year old son died two weeks ago of a heroin overdose. Only child and only grandchild. His poor mother found him in bed. Her husband died 9 years ago from cancer. She is only 50. Not sure how she is going to handle all of this.
Heroin is a terrible drug.
My prayers are with her....

Quick update....more progress...
Amanda was able to walk in the specialized walker up a 75’ hallway this morning....therapist assisted somewhat....but Amanda did more of the walking than yesterday.....she also was able to use her left arm and hand to grasp a large ring and move it to a targeted peg....so she needed to lift her arm to move the object...she was not able able to do this yesterday....and lastly....when her left leg is bent while lying down....she can now stabilize it and prevent it from falling to the side....
Everyday we see incremental progress....God has blessed us abundantly....
Thank you and please keep praying for her continued rehab....and that all decisions are guided by God’s will...!
Amanda continues to make progress....she can move from her arm chair to her wheel chair on her own....she continues to walk using the walker with less assistance each day...she now can pull her left leg upward into an angle and hold it steady while laying down....and her range of motion in her left arm is increasing....her strength is growing every day....hope is alive and kicking...
I am awed by God’s healing grace....Faith, Hope and Love are not mere words....she is truly in His grip...!
Thank you for all your prayers and please keep praying for her continued rehab....and that all decisions are guided by God’s will...!

Amanda moved to using the walker to 100’...up the hall way and back....her left leg locks a bit...we are hoping it will get better...she also has been doing more rehab on the left arm....she has been picking up cups and moving them to cover pegs....seems easy....but given a week a go she couldn’t move the arm...it is significant progress.
This week we start to face reality with our insurance company and the hospital....Amanda by Friday will have had 2 weeks of acute/intensive rehab....she will likely need at least 2 more weeks before steping down to sub-acute....upcoming decisions may have a significant impact on her continued progress....
Please thank the Lord for His intercession and blessings to date...and thank you for all your prayers....and....please keep praying for Amanda’a continued rehab....and that all future decisions are guided by God’s will...!

Tomorrow we meet to find out how much time we have left before Amanda is moved out of acute rehab....please pray that God’s will is followed and she is given every opportunity....
Amnada has been very active on facebook...she is improving incrementally every day.....another two weeks will do wonders for her....

Amanda Update -
Amanda walked using a standard walker today...went 30’...it was difficult and required some assistance.....but it a significant change....Amanda also can now move her left arm much higher than two days ago....she continues to work on her strength and dexterity.....her ability to dress and groom herself is moving forward as well....
Further good news is the hospital believes that she will likely have her stay there extended until 9/20....perhaps longer if needed....but right now the target is 9/20...5 days after the original date first quoted to us in August.
The goal is to get her home and be functional with little or no assistance (and have her attend outpatient rehab)....and not send her to sub-acute care. I pray that is God’s will as well....
God be praised, we have a lot to be thankful for...these are all such positive steps forward.
Please continue to pray for Amanda....and thank the good Lord for his mercy and grace...
I love reading how God continues to heal Amanda. Thankful prayers will continue.

Prayers for Amanda’s continued healing and for strength for you and your wife.
Heading to Florida today...will be with my wife until Sunday when she flies home.....I miss her, it will be good to be together once again....even if only for two days. Thankfully my brother Glenn and his wife Veronica will be taking care of Rachel during this time...
I did not post yesterday out of respect for 9/11....somber day, makes me understand how fortunate we are to have Amanda with us today....
As for Amanda, she was sore yesterday from her therapy the day before....working the muscles is taking a toll....but she fights through it the best she can.
She is still working on mastering the walker....it is a challenge given the lack of strength and control in her left leg....it is getting better...but still needs to increase....it is hoped we will see that this week.
Plans are now to bring her home on 9/20....but that may get extended if further acute rehab is warranted.....
On Monday, Amanda will take her first trip out of the hospital (God willing)...she will be attending a Celebrate Recovery meeting.....a Christian Based addiction recovery meeting.....A lot of her friends who make up her fledgling support group will be there....it should be very encouraging to all of us.
Please continue to pray for Amanda.....especially concerning her left leg....please pray it strengthens and allows Amanda to walk out of the hospital on 9/20. Please pray that all makig decision on her behalf are insruments of God’s.....and through Christ....all things are possible....Bless you all.
