Driscoll founded Seattle's Mars Hill Church in 1996; it has grown to a reported 13,000 attendees and 15 locations. It is known for its charismatic pastor, big-screen sermons, festive atmosphere and loud music.

Recently, both pastor and church have been plagued by public criticisms. In early August, families that had left the church and are critical of Driscoll picketed a Mars Hill Church in Washington.

**The Seattle Times reports Acts 29’s decision to dismiss Driscoll came “after a string of allegations that he regularly bullied or shunned churchgoers and spent church funds inappropriately.” This summer, according to the Seattle Times, “Mars Hill told church members that it had confirmed that some money given to help start churches overseas had instead gone for Mars Hill expenses.”**

Read entire article. Some talk of Plagiarism, not proved, like Biden’s is proved, Talk of arrogance and hiring a company to increase book sales. Based on removal of books and disassociation, I would have thought he did something in the lien of a sexual dalliance.

Good Point. Never the less, there are actually Churches that call themselves Christian that are accepting all manner of sin into their ranks. Arrogance and a disagreement about spending seems minor in this day and age.

It was on its maiden trip, that an iceberg hit the ship.
It was sad when the great ship went down.

Chorus:
It was sad, so sad.
It was sad, so sad.
It was sad when the great ship went down (to the bottom of the....)
Uncles and aunts, little children lost their pants.
It was sad when the great ship went down.............

Lol. No, Driscoll’s as far removed from celibacy as one can get!

I have been to Mars Hill in Seattle and like Mark Driscoll a lot. I hope this is all resolved soon. To God be the glory.

Are you suggesting that Mark Driscoll has been involved in sexual improprieties? As far as I am aware, the allegations against him have to do with financial irregularities and an authoritarian management style. Is there more that I’m not aware of? Truthfully, I have not followed his situation that closely but I have heard a few of his sermons and lectures and have generally liked what I have heard. I have a certain admiration for anyone who upsets some of the tight-shoed, “truly-reformed” Presbyterian-types.

“Are you suggesting that Mark Driscoll has been involved in sexual improprieties?”

Forgive me, no. I was responding to (Catholic) Salvation’s quip about the celibate (priests) vis a vis the married (Protestant) Driscoll.

Driscoll is known for his frank talk about sexuality, and his admitted enjoyment of it within marriage. This, per the quip, makes him the furthest thing from celibacy (in the Catholics sense of unmarried priests).

Driscoll’s not my problem, but he gets a lot of press.

Thank you for the clarification - I see your point, now (although I should have seen it before).

One of the things that I have enjoyed in Mark Discroll sermons and lectures is his views on God's gift of sexuality. He seems to have a good grasp on the appropriate Biblical limitations and the freedom that exists within those limitations. Frankly, IMO, his views on the marital sexual issues are much more Biblical than the typical sermons which seem to be far too influenced by Puritanical views.

And Pr. Driscoll has exercised that sexuality as he has 4 or 5 kids. I went to Mars Hill briefly in the mid-2000’s His messages were good when he wasn’t talking about his fights with Internet boys about pre-destination. Didn’t really like the all black comedy club interior and loud music. But is was the only church that had Sunday eve. worship as I had to work most Sun. morns.
