26 Solomon had four[a] thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses. (1 Kings 4:26)


As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.(2 Kings 2:11)


2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. 3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds[a] of wheat for a day’s wages,[b] and six pounds[c] of barley for a day’s wages,[d] and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.(Revelation 6:2-8)

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When Solomon was made King, he was warned not to collect horses. But, as we discussed, Solomon had a taste for the exotic. He collected a huge number of horses. Critical Scholars used to scoff at the numbers in the Bible, until Israeli Archaeologists uncovered evidence of acres of stabling facilities at Hazor. It would seem that, like the Bible says, Solomon was a Horse-Collector!

In other Scriptures, the Horse takes on an Awesome, Apocalyptic Aura. In Zechariah, and again in Revelation, visions of Horses and Chariots represent devastating events at the End of the Age.

The Greek word for "Pale" (Chloris) as in "Pale horse" is actually a pale green color. It is from this root that we have the words "Chlorofil", "chlorine", and "Clorox". Green is a color associated with Islam, and appears on many Islamic flags.

The White Horseman symbolizes a world leader, and a conquering hero. We associate White with the "Good Guys" so many will be deceived by this heroic figure. In this context, he is a figure of War.

The Red Horseman symbolizes Pestilence and diseases that spread all over the world. We think we have conquered disease with our wonder medical scientists, but something even nastier always seems to pop at at the worst possible moment.

The Black Horse is famine and economic Collapse.

And then, Death comes on a Pale (Green) Horse.

Our Brothers and Sisters in the middle east are suffering the effects of all of these. Please, keep them in your prayers.

Lord of Hosts, we stand in the gap for the nation of Israel: the Jews and Palestinians alike. We cry out for Your justice and peace to be established. We acknowledge that the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God, so we ask that wisdom and discernment to be given to all who are in authority. Lord Jesus, we ask that the governments will line up with Your heart, for the government rests on Your shoulders.

For those caught in the middle, hiding in bunkers or forced to stay in an unsafe area due to terrorist threats, we pray for Your deliverance. We pray for angelic protection for the innocents. We ask that the “Iron Dome” defense system will continue to effectively deter missiles. Father, we ask that You would expose the terrorist plots and plans, and thwart every attempt from terrorists groups to hide weapons in civilian places.

Holy Spirit, we ask that you would open the eyes and hearts of both Jews and Gentiles to the revelation of Yeshua and His gospel of peace. We bless the Jews as they have endured hostility and hatred from all sides. We bless the Palestinians and ask that you would raise up righteous men and women to lead their people into peace and prosperity. Bring comfort to all the men, women, and children who have lost loved ones and are suffering from the recent battles.
We proclaim peace and order over chaos, and that Your Kingdom will be revealed in Israel, as it is in heaven. And we declare, “Lord, establish Jerusalem, Your heavenly city, and make her a praise on the earth.”

We realize that no human, no government, or philosophy will be able to fully deliver or save. Only You, Lord Jesus. In You we trust and look for the blessed hope that will come out of Zion.

In the name of the One enthroned above all principalities and powers, amen.
