Thousands of Iraqi Christians are fleeing after Islamic State militants seized the minoritys biggest town in Iraq, according to reports.
The Islamic State, formerly ISIS, captured Qaraqosh in Nineveh province overnight after Kurdish forces withdrew from the town.
The French Christian organisation Fraternite en Irak said in a post on Facebook that a majority of those living in Nineveh left after militants took over Qaraqosh, known as the Christian capital of northern Iraq, and surrounding towns.
Its a catastrophe, a tragic situation: tens of thousands of terrified people are being displaced as we speak, said Joseph Thomas, the Chaldean archbishop of the northern city of Kirkuk.
We call on the UN Security Council to immediately intervene. Tens of thousands of terrified people are being displaced as we speak, it cannot be described.

Well.. I guess ISIS can overrun any territory it wants. No one seems able or willing to fight them.
Yesterday’s news had the Kurds fighting back and possibly retaking the Mosul dam? This is some fast turnaround. The citizens need help and lots of prayers.
bttt
I would love for them to all come to America, settle together and form a community....we need more Christians in this country, ones willing to actually produce children.
Try it here in the USA. They will find out what a few motivated militia members are capable of doing. It’s hard to fathom how effective ISIS has been w/o an Air Force.
“The French Christian organisation Fraternite en Irak said in a post on Facebook that a majority of those living in Nineveh left ..”
Not To Worry the French are are on scene and Im certain they will work everything out in a matter of a few days.
Ron and Rand Paul shrugged.
Obama played golf.
Why are we not supporting the Kurds?
At least use armed drones. Our resident doesn’t care about none Muslims.
Christians: The Minority that the oh-so-caring Democrats and the Left just don’t care about
Yep. He even states this in one of his books. He will support moose limbs where ever expedient. We are next.
Gun up.
Looking more and more what a huge fiasco it was to remove Saddam from power. At least the Christian community was stable there...
And our fearless leader looks on with glee.
O God, who art the unsearchable abyss of peace,
the ineffable sea of love, the fountain of blessings
and the bestower of affection,
who sendest peace to those that receive it;
Open to us this day the sea of thy love
and water us with plenteous streams
from the riches of thy grace
and from the most sweet springs of thy kindness.
Make us children of quietness and heirs of peace,
enkindle in us the fire of thy love;
sow in us thy fear;
strengthen our weakness by thy power;
bind us closely to thee and to each other
in our firm and indissoluble bond of unity:
Syrian Clementine Liturgy (in: For all God’s people; p. 73)
Litany for Iraq
For lasting peace in this ancient land – From you, O Lord.
For wisdom and compassion for all in authority – From you, O Lord.
For comfort for families separated or bereaved – From you, O Lord.
For the release of captives – From you, O Lord.
For safety and security for minority communities.
For refreshment for the weary and healing for the sick – From you, O Lord.
For continuing faithfulness of the ancient churches of this land – From you, O Lord.
For tenacity of spirit for small Christian groups – From you, O Lord.
For the mutual enrichment and support of those of different Christian traditions – From you, O Lord.
You, Lord of all, we confess;
You, Lord Jesus, we glorify;
For you are the life of our bodies
And you are the Saviour of our souls.
The response in the litany and this hymn both come from the Chaldean liturgy. The ancient hymn celebrates Christ the source of resurrection in all situations of death and deprivation. (in: With All God’s People, p. 21, 22)
Meanwhile... Ron and Rand Paul shrugged. Obama played golf.
Boehner wept.
