Oh, I so believe that - the outpouring of love and kindness towards other religions among you guys brings a tiny tear to my eye. I'm thinking of joining you guys from the vast dark evils of my bead-counting, statue-worshipping, art-loving Catholicism.

So you're Catholic? Catholics do not consider Mormons to be Christians. Their baptisms are not seen as valid, and their doctrine as being incompatible with theirs. This in contrast to their position on Protestants, which is that of "separated" brethren, with authentic baptism.
