Magic Underwear & Magic Food

Mormons have some really weird beliefs. For example, many (all) Mormons believe they (males only) can take a cooking/salad oil, pour just a small drop on the crown of your head and their god will heal them of almost anything.

Mormons believe that by wearing ugly underwear bought from a specific company, their god will protect them from harm.

Mormons believe that by wearing a really weird looking costume they are taught secret ways to touch angels so after they die, the angels will let Mormons get into heaven quicker.

Mormons believe their god requires women to not wear outer clothing that covers their crotch (pants) to worship their god in a large and spacious room (chapel).

Mormons believe that a little torn piece of bread and a small sip of water that has been chanted over and then swallowed will require their god to forgive them for their sins.

Mormons believe by consuming certain foods and wearing funny looking clothes god loves them more than the rest of the humans.

It is the same with all parents. We love our children more or less depending upon how ugly their clothes are and how they consume small bits of food items.

The Mormon god must have a sense of humor watching his "SPECIAl" children called Mormons think this makes god love them the most.

which I said that tattoos are disallowed in Judaism and Christianity

I can only find a verse (directed at Jews) that mentions them:

Leviticus 19:28
'You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.

My point is that others can learn from how Mormons treat other people in daily life.

True; but when you look UNDER the rock...

In a post over tattoos about a year ago - in which I said that tattoos are disallowed in Judaism and Christianity - I had all my private messages disappeared for an hour and all my posts removed without the usual “removed by mod” explanation. Just disappeared. I was also forced to log on for hours after my post. The mod who I believe was responsible is now long gone and another fine freeper helped me out of the trouble.

I know it sounds paranoid but I had several freepers write me privately that this had happened with them - by the same mod. Sadly, all of them had experienced these problems on the religious forums. So I’m determined if it happens again that at least I’ve gone on record about it. Hasn’t happened after the first log off/log on last night.

There Is a special forum for people who believe their religion is the true one. It is called the Religion Forum - where this thread is posted.

So anyone who believes that their religion is the true one can post in the Special Religion Forum? Can I post a thread in the Special Religion Forum on the spiritual benefits of yoga?

My temperament might tend to lean more toward Viking Kitty than Ghandi.

Why settle, when you can have both?

Absolute nonsense.

Being a Catholic does not mean you march in lockstep like a mindless drone.

The concept of papal infallibility was developed in the 19th Century by Pope Pius IX.

Take the issue of compulsory clerical celibacy.

Pope Francis has recently gone on record stating:

1) The policy is a discipline not a dogma.
2) The policy was implemented many centuries after the founding of the Church.
3) Catholic priests in Eastern Europe and the Middle East are bound by the policy.
4) The policy is subject to change.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are many people critical of the Mormon faith, Catholic and Protestant.

I do not agree with many teachings of that faith myself. But then again I don’t agree with everything my own Church recommends as well. A few examples.

Here in the L.A. Archdiocese, our Archbishop says we should accept illegal immigration. I am adamantly opposed to illegal immigration, even though the Catholic Church is one of the most powerful institutions in this country promoting illegal immigration...along with the Democrat Party.

Also, in our Archdiocese we were told to vote for a proposition here in CA which would have banned the death penalty in our state. I did not vote for it (and neither did the voters).

So no, I do not march in lock step with the Church.

Meant to say many priests in Eastern Europe and the Middle East are NOT bound by the policy of compulsory clerical celibacy.

//Oh! I’m, actually, a firm believer in religion in the home being the mom’s job with the husband coming up with a vague affirmation that kids need to go to church on Sunday.//

But that isn’t biblical. And I know fanatical women too.

No we don’t hate Mormons, most of us hate the fact their own church lies to them to keep them in chains, we hate that the LDS church poisons the well so most who leave become atheists, we hate the deceit. That isn’t about the rank and file, who are deceived and often leave when they find out the truth (several have left and become Christians from threads like these), it is about the LDS church as a whole, the institutional sexism, racism, abuse, lies. So yes I HATE the Mormon church but not the rank and file who are bound in chains and need Christ and freedom.

LDS rank and file are no more decent than anyone else, but they put on a good front (they are told to appear perfect) so people are interested in joining. It is all a mask.

Well, that's true. And it's always been the case.

Since you totally agree, and I totally agree, and the Pope as well, I'd say we're all in line with Catholicism. Why do you say you "take issue" with this?

//How many Mormons will admit that they believe this stuff?//

Most who are intellectually honest will say “yeah..but” to these, they are worded a bit sensationally but do reflect LDS teaching and belief.
