Why do Protestant lay people hate clergy?
Posted on 07/26/2014 4:41:46 AM PDT by michaelwlf3
I am coming up on my first year as an ordained minister in a continuing Anglican church, and I have noticed that participating on political forums (even when the topic is religious) I find that my opinions and postings more often than not generate more hatred than anything else. Among the things I often hear are that the laity are the real priests and that I am a Pharisee, that my vocation disqualifies me from offering an opinion on anything Christian because I am too narrow minded, and (my personal favorite) because I look too Catholic I must be a child molester.
Are these people really Christians?

To: CynicalBear
Since you have shown that you don’t believe what it says anyway, What difference can it make to you, who do not study it for understanding?
To be a believer requires belief, not denial.
Believing that God has kept the errors that you believe is unbelief.

Yep, the deception has been here all the time!
Paul spoke of the Mystery of Iniquity in the first century.

Arent they able to think for themselves? No. When I was growing up the priests words were law. What he said went.
He represented the Catholic church. He had the education and training in spiritual matters.
He had the (allegedly) power to bind or retain your sins so you did NOT want to cross him. You wanted him on your side.
You did not challenge what he or any nuns even ever said.
It just isn't an option either by training or because nobody is willing to risk putting their eternal destination on the line like that.
When you are raised believing that salvation is through them/the church, you don't question, you submit and bow, and when they jump you do it without even asking how high or for how long.
And read some of the posts on the RF and you'll see the defense of the indefensible. It;s Catholic talking points all the way and you can't even show them out of Scripture because it's so ingrained into them that they cannot understand it or interpret it correctly that it's like the deer in the headlights syndrome. Their eyes glaze over and their mind must go blank.

The site you link on this Arnold Murray is clearly a cult site itself.
It’s title “Rapture Ready” is indicative of beliefs that are contrary to the word.

Its title Rapture Ready is indicative of beliefs that are contrary to the word. If that's what he taught I would agree with you. There isn't a title called "Rapture Ready" there.

Hard to believe that you let some internet website deceive you that easy. But here it is. Have a nice day.
To: daniel1212
I had not been to that site for 4-5 years. Did you read the info on Catholics? Wow. So this love affair with Muslims goes back years. Did you read where that pope said people have to belong to the Catholic Church to be saved? Baloney!!! God tells us in the Bible how to have eternal life and no time is a church group mentioned. How do they believe this nonsense? I am amazed.

I agree with all you said. I must say that in all my years of Bible study, including learning about other religions and cults, this is the first time I've heard of the doctrine that those "born again/from above" aren't really until the general resurrection when the redeemed receive their glorified bodies (as long as they have "endured to the end"). Do you know which denomination teaches this or is this just the beliefs of a few?
