I am coming up on my first year as an ordained minister in a continuing Anglican church, and I have noticed that participating on political forums (even when the topic is religious) I find that my opinions and postings more often than not generate more hatred than anything else. Among the things I often hear are that the laity are the real priests and that I am a Pharisee, that my vocation disqualifies me from offering an opinion on anything Christian because I am too narrow minded, and (my personal favorite) because I look too Catholic I must be a child molester.
Are these people really Christians?
LOL It always amuses me when in post promoting how smart someone is they include a stupid mistake like that.
>> “In verses 3, 5, and 7, they translate the sayings of Jesus using the term *born again*.” <<
.
In that discussion, it is clear from the particular words used in the Greek, Yeshua’s word differing from the word Peter used, and the two words having completely different meanings, that they were not speaking of the same thing.
Yeshua spoke of a literal physical birth into an incorruptible body at the last trump, while Peter spoke of the Mikva that brings about the beginning of our Earthly spiritual journey. Neither of these cases create scriptural justification for a belief in “instantaneous eternal guaranteed salvation.”
There is no such guarantee to be found anywhere in the scriptures, no matter how severely one may misinterpret the words of any of the apostles.
Enduring to the end, as Yeshua declared, and as all of his apostles affirmed in their epistles, is required of all.
The Douay and the KJV differ not one bit on this fact, nor does any other version that I have ever read.

And we all know that you’ve never been guilty of fat-fingering any keys in any of your posts!
(mark 7 seems to ring in one’s ears when reading most of your offerings)
.
Don't be too sure about that. I expect more from Catholics than I do from non-Catholics.
Falible, or not, the broad based usage of separate words in the Greek copies shows that a different word was also appropriate in the Hebrew originals (which Constantine’s army was ordered to destroy, but now we find that they failed many times)
.
LOL A ringing in your ears ey? Doesnt surprise me. Using passages taken from the Greek New Testament we have today is rather disingenuous on your part isnt it?

The internet can be cruel...One is anonymous. I avoid posting on the religion threads where our differences are the main topic.
I doubt anyone has been convinced either way to change their beliefs by such an exchange. Prayers from Protestants and Catholics mingle well on prayer threads. There we are showing Christian love.
Your list of assertions is misleading and naive, not to mention an inaccurate conclusion about Catholicism.
If your statements about the Holy Spirit leading you were true, you wouldn’t have all of the variations of Protestantism.
TRUTH is not different, just because they’re united against Catholicism.
Please demonstrate how this is disingenuous!
I addressed individuals, all of whom have professed adherence to said Greek texts.
Coin of the realm!

Behold the fruits of Sola Scriptura and OSAS!
In the Religion forum, on a thread titled Why do Protestant lay people hate clergy?, editor-surveyor wrote to CynicalBear :

Just WAAAAY too funny. More proof of the reason why God gave us ONE Church, not a million.
BTW, IIRC both of these posters agree with each other that:
1 - The Catholic Church is evil,
2 - Easter celebrations are pagan,
3 - Christmas celebrations are pagan,
4 - Lenten observances are pagan,
5 - And, drum roll please, Church on Sunday is Pagan!
Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.
God gave us one mystical, invisible assembly, and declared his hatred of the nicolaitans that created the catholic church.
.
Sola Nico?
Carrying issues across threads again, I see.
There’s something about that in the RM’s RF guidelines that I seem to recall you being reminded of time and again.
One church that is hardly consistent in its own statements of faith and doctrinal stands.
So tell me, is there salvation outside the Catholic church or not?
Fractal disobedience?
Looks like it. It just continues on forever.......
I suppose she could post her one trick pony kindergarten pic to herself.
Your equivalency argument is nonsensical.
There IS TRUTH, and Christ told us how to discern that truth.
Interpretations are not all equal!
