It was in the 18th century I believe that wine was distilled into brandy and fortified wine, maybe earlier - Falstaff drank it. It’s possible to get drunk on wine. Beer is more difficult because it’s more filling but a few shots of distilled alcohol makes it quicker.

My grandfather grew apples and made cider back in the late 1800s, early 1900s. Some of it, probably most of it, was hard.

hmmmm. roasted pig butt. It takes cooking most of the day to get it to the point where you can pull it apart with your fingers. I use a rub that includes cocoa. Makes it taste a pit Mexican.

Some people can make what is not very good taste good, I go the other way, I can make something that is good taste bad.

...neither the ancients nor the Puritans knew anything whatsoever about bacteria... They did not have to. They knew that if you drank this you got sick and if you drank that you did not.

Indeed, the eating of poultry at all seems to have come to Jewish regions only after the exile in Babylon (587 – 500 BC). probably came from India via Persian merchants, since chickens are descendants of Jungle Fowls..........

Also how in Europe even children start drinking wine but in a very small glass but you don't see the whole population getting drunk. Actually you do.
Europe is much harder drinking then the US. When American adults drink it generally three drinks with dinner and home with a light buzz. European adults get blind, staggering, puke in alleys drunk. Collage student drunk.
