WASHINGTON — Tensions between Girl Scouts’ messaging and Catholic teaching have led to a national boycott of Girl Scout cookies, the ousting of Girl Scouts from parishes, and a significant drop in Catholic membership in the Girl Scouts.
Now a panel of U.S. bishops has released the results of a two-year investigation into Girl Scouts’ problematic messaging, ties to Planned Parenthood, and continued advocacy of so-called reproductive rights by the organization’s international affiliate, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Their findings indicate that the concerns continue to persist, regarding the problematic connections between the Girl Scouts and groups that promote policies contrary to Church teachings on life and sexuality.

Other than a boycott over cookies, the exact same things an be said about the Boy Scouts of America.
American Heritage Girls is the alternative.
We stopped buying GS cookies a couple of years ago. We were usually good for 6-7 boxes too.

I have not bought any cookies since this became known and I will not buy them ever again.
This interests me because my Irish-Catholic family in the 50s and 60s would not let me join the Girl Scouts anymore than I was allowed to join the YWCA. It was thought improper.

Actually, they can’t be said about the Boy Scouts. The BSA hasn’t taken any position on abortion, for example, nor have they made an abortionist their National President.
The BSA is already feeling the impact of their idiotic decision. However, if there was a reason the Catholics should drop the BSA, the bishops wouldn’t have called on every parish to establish a Pack and Troop.
The BSA is stupid, and they don’t have a spine. The GSA has an agenda. Those are quite different things.

But they have made the man who was responsible for sodomizing the US military their National President. Before the year is out he’ll have homosexual scout leaders. Then, the parishes will have no choice but to cut ties with the BSA. Some parishes already have.

It’s not what we’ve been told. Gates actually said the matter is closed, and it won’t be readdressed during his tenure.
The interesting thing here is that people do what they are compensated to do, and the paid staff is getting nervous about their pensions. The GSA is wholly owned by the National GSA.
In the BSA, the charters are held by the Chartering Orgs. National believes it has split the baby judiciously here. I don’t believe that, and I think it will eventually finish the BSA, but the GSA is a far different group than the BSA.
The GSA is into agitprop and indoctrination. So far, the BSA isn’t. The new requirements of the Environmental Science Merit Badge are revealing - there’s a bit in there about global warming.
Made me roll my eyes. The way it is written, however, it asks the kid to provide evidence its happening. It isn’t insisting it exists. A counselor could accept evidence it isn’t happening as satisfaction of the requirement, I suppose.

Hardly, the Boy Scouts are nowhere near where the girl scouts are, Radical Lesbians took over their national council years ago..... While most of the troop leaders are just regular moms, the organization leadership went off the deep end long ago.

The scouts like every thing else started for a good purpose
but is now for no other purpose except furthermost of the careers of the administrators.
Government is the leader in this scam.

My daughter learned more that was “contrary to Church teachings” while she was student in Catholic school, than she has as a Girl Scout.
Most of the parish if not the diocese voted for Buraq Obama (twice) and props up the democrat abortion-hugging politicians who run our state,... speaking of what is contrary to church teachings
As a Girl Scout my girls learned to camp, be a leader and get along with others.
Maybe the Catholic church should spend time investigating the ties of the democrat party and ousting those who belong to it
