It would be more useful to change the title to “Why Progressives get the Ten Commandments Wrong”
As with all things Progressive, he who controls the meaning of words and concepts gets to control the outcome of the debate. In this case, progressives don’t hesitate to redefine and nullify the Commandments as they see the need.
Let us start with, You shall have no other gods before Me.
The Progressive religion is the secular State. But in reality it is the god of this world, who is easily identified by anyone who has read the Bible, as Satan.
But putting that minor point aside, Progressives advance their religion via the State and the core mechanism is via collectivist policies. These can be succinctly put as follows: society will be better off when we each live at the expense of everyone else.
There is hardly a social concept that violates more of the Commandments per word than this one. First, it is a blatant lie. Second, it is predicated upon coveting the wealth and income of people who have such in order that the State can be justified in seizing same and redistributing to others. It is Lies, Coveting and Theft, all rolled into one bloodthirsty State policy.
Progressives are so “hell-bent” (so to speak) on their collectivism that they are willing to tell us that their coveting and theft scheme is a form of “charity”.
So, yes indeed! Let us open up the subject of how people get the Ten Commandments wrong and we must start with the conversation with Progressives social policy.
