DETROIT, MICHIGAN, JUNE 19, 2014 A statement of protest by the Presbyterian Lay Committee repudiating the action of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA to redefine marriage.
The 221st General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) has approved both an Authoritative Interpretation of the Constitution and an amendment to redefine marriage. In the name of 1.8 million Presbyterians nationwide, the General Assembly has committed an express repudiation of the Bible, the mutually agreed upon Confessions of the PCUSA, thousands of years of faithfulness to Gods clear commands and the denominational ordination vows of each concurring commissioner. This is an abomination.
The Presbyterian Lay Committee mourns these actions and calls on all Presbyterians to resist and protest them. You should tell your pastor and the members of your session that you disapprove of these actions. You should refuse to fund the General Assembly, your synod, your presbytery and even your local church if those bodies have not explicitly and publicly repudiated these unbiblical actions.
God will not be mocked and those who substitute their own felt desires for Gods unchangeable Truth will not be found guiltless before a holy God. The Presbyterian Lay Committee will continue to call for repentance and reform: repentance of those who have clearly erred at this General Assembly and reform of the PCUSA according to the Word of God.

It has been 19 years since I left the PC(USA). I pray for God's remnant that is still there.
The branch I have attended was already a spin off of the Presbyterians due to theological differences, but after this....I guess their attitude will either cause most of us to never return, or support them if they try to present truth.
Oy Vey!
While I’m sympathetic to the Presbyterian Lay Committee on this issue, I think the PCUSA already lost its credibility long ago when they excommunicated orthodox men of God like J. Gresham Machen, ordained elders who denied the virgin birth, the resurrection and divinity of Christ, who denied the infallibility of the Bible and when they started ordaining women and supporting abortions.
Their horrific decisions this week on marriage redefinition and hatred of Israel only ratify an apostasy that’s been decades in the making.
Follow the money. The churches opposed should withhold their money until they repent and turn from their wicked ways and if they don’t, start a separate branch.
Matthew 7:6 New International Version
“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
And what happens if the GA, Synod, Presbytery and local church do turn around and repudiate these unBiblical actions?
A so called church that is capable of passing this has far more serious issues. This is just a symptom of the cancer that has taken over the PC(USA).
Can anyone break down in simple terms what’s going on? I know a division(?) of the church is now permitting gay marriages and also denounced Israel....correct?
Which one did what?
PCUSA just keeps digging deeper into the pit.
Not surprised at their newest position......just surprised there are any folks left to object!
God bless them for objecting.......
PCA Presbyterian was originated almost 40 years ago expressly to separate from the USA’s apostate leanings.

Not tracking the Israel part in all of this. They have been anti-Israel for years though.
Check out this thread about their divesting from Israel

I’m happy to say the only Presbyterian churches I’ve been a member of have been in the PCA and the EPC. I’ve never been a member of a PCUSA church and never will be.
It’s demonic punking of a congregation to compromise whatever might be left of Christian faith in it (and there could be some, believers who stayed through inertia).
Can’t congregations shrug off the PCUSA affiliation and go indy, or join a different conference?
Once again, the rulers are at odds with the ruled.
thanks much.
While it won’t have that huge an impact in the world, the symbolic message is unmistakable. Israel-haters carry the day.
23 years since I shook the dust off my feet for the last time.
I get the online magazine, ‘The Layman’ which is us a first hand blow by blow controversy. Apparently all the Presbyterian Churches USA members will have the final vote on the outcome, so it’s not over yet, we can still escape this hell hole, literally.

I wish I could return to the church I was baptized in when I was a kid. I would leave the Presbyterians very quickly.

I am just amazed that people who claim to be Christian don’t believe the word of God, that has clearly stated God’s will.
