More Protestant blessings!
A simple act of humility should not be misconstrued.
I'm not sure he has any business humbling himself before a CofE cleric. But if the pope can do it, why can't I? I could head down to St. Andrews (which is as gay as today is long) and be blessed by their vicaress and I would be following the example given by the Bishop of Rome.
I agree with you.
The Pope Francis bashers will be here soon giving you their opinion of him on this.
“By allowing himself to be blessed by the Archbishop, Francis implicitly shows that he recognizes the validity of Anglican orders.”
Actually, no.
This isn’t about humility, it’s about authority, truth, and right order. The giving and receiving of blessings is relational: blessings are given by a superior, to demonstrate approval, good will, or a desire to convey the spiritual gifts with which one’s entrusted. Thus priests bless lay people and parents bless (their own) children. A revered teacher might bless an exceptional pupil. For the pope to accept a blessing from the ABC is an inversion of right order, degrading a spiritual action to the level of just a more ceremonial way of shaking hands. It doesn’t demonstrate humility on Francis’s part; it demonstrates ignorance, loss of continuity with his past, and disregard for the state of life to which God’s called him.
I wonder if he blessed him in his capacity as an Anglican, or as a Druid priest?
The ecumaniac disease has become rampant in the highest offices of the Church.
No one should be allowed an opinion unless its a positive one?
Who’s intolerant?
“Giving a pectoral cross to an archdruid certainly recognizes Anglican orders.”
No it doesn’t. Giving a rosary to a Protestant does not mean you recognize them as a Catholic. Think.
If the pope gave a pectoral cross to me I’d be pretty certain he was making me a bishop...
Wrong!
Pectoral cross:
“The name of the cross used by the pope, cardinals, bishops, abbots, and other prelates entitled to use the pontifical insignia.”

I have been blessed my many through words, through hugs, through writings.
What’s the big deal?
Why don't you try it before you post again?
“If the pope gave a pectoral cross to me Id be pretty certain he was making me a bishop...”
Without a consecration Mass? You need to go back to CCD or grade school religion class. No consecration, no bishop. It’s pretty simple and every Catholic knows it.
“Wrong!”
No, I’m absolutely right. Pope Benedict XVI does not recognize Anglican orders - hence, the strictures of Anglicanorum coetibus.
