Aren’t people glad if you’re church isn’t a government-run church like in Denmark? Kind of sad, but it goes to show how wise the Constitution was in having the 1st Amendment. Gives me shivers to all those nations that have a state-run church like Finland and others.

I don’t think it will happen in the Catholic Church, but I’m not familiar with Denmark at all.

All churches of the Lutheran State Church, or all churches period?

I assume the former, because then there would be a larger issue.

Of course the fair-minded Danes must have also made it mandatory for mosques to permit gay weddings to be held on their premises, right?

This applies only to the State Church of Denmark, which was run by the Danish royal family. If you’re not part of that Lutheran Church, and are either Catholic, Muslim, or whatever denomination/religion is in Denmark, it doesn’t apply to you. What will happen everywhere is persecution, friend. Will you be willing to stick with your non-SSM church, or go join another if yours changes, that is the real question. But my impression is that for this and other reasons, Jesus may have been talking about a literal 50 percent destruction of Christians, because a good percentage of professed Christians end up going for some falsehood counterfeit of God’s work, and be part of what gets destroyed.

It is the former. It applies to the government-run Lutheran Church of Denmark.

I would not want to attend services with any minister so spineless and lacking in faith that he would desecrate a church for such a "wedding". My guess - this guy (or his Danish equivalent) will be VERY busy:

Marcellus said it best (with help from Shakespeare):

“Something’s rotten in the State of Denmark.”

Denmark has a Lutheran Church that is run by the Danish Royal Family. The Lutheran Church is run by state law, state morals, etc. It was so thorough that if in Denmark you were a member of the royal family and you changed from this Lutheran Church, your eligibility as a potential crown successor is completely forfeit.

It won’t happen legally in the Catholic Church, what is and does happen though is the mockery of whatever church or religion that is not a practicioner of SSM will be mocked and poked fun of all over the place for not being like the state church. Remember though, that in the tradition of Christ, the mockery is worth it, for “So did they the prophets before me”

The First Amendment won’t trump the Fourteenth Amendment (as it is now interpreted) when it comes down to crunch time. We don’t have an established church, but we have a situation where the the First Amendment is being contracted as the Fourteenth Amendment is being expanded. The churches will not be immune.

Not according to the article.

The country’s parliament voted through the new law on same-sex marriage by a large majority, making it mandatory for all churches to conduct gay marriages.”

Is this literally any church including the Catholic Church, Mosques or Orthodox synagogues or the state supported Church of Denmark? I remember other state sponsored churches in Scandinavia being required to perform gay marriages too.

Another good reason for separation between Church and State.
