Islamic prayers to be held at the Vatican

For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the Quran will be heard at the Vatican on Sunday, in a move by Pope Francis to usher in peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Francis issued the invitation to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit last week to Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas, Peres, and Francis will be joined by Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders, a statement released by Peres’s spokesperson said, according to the Times of Israel.

Holy See officials on Friday said the evening prayers would be a “pause in politics” and had no political aim other than to rekindle the desire for Israeli-Palestinian peace at the political and popular level, according to the Associated Press.

Low expectations

The Vatican will broadcast a live feed of the event to viewers across the world.

However, expectations for the event should be kept low, according to Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the custodian of Catholic Church property in the Holy Land.

[No-one should think] “peace will suddenly break out on Monday, or that peace is any closer,” AP reported him as saying.

On Friday, the Pope met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and discussed ways of promoting peace and stability in Asia the Vatican said in a statement.

Nice way to twist things. I am part of the catholic church and always will be. I will never be part of the Catholic church. And in heaven we will be the Bride of Christ and all doctrine will fall away. No longer will we see through a glass darkly. Including your particular glass. Sorry.

Maybe the Muslim Holy man can fix all this when he leads the Pope in prayer.

How does this affect the concept of papal infallibility?

> Catholic doctrine is not affected by having a foolish pope. Sorry that was not what I meant at all.<

I agree. The Church has survived foolish and evil popes. It will continue to do so regardless because the Church is the Bride of Christ. He will overcome all our failings.

I must say, though, this has a prophetic sense to it. Their view of their God and who we know God is is completely different. Having an Islamic cult leader praying at the Vatican on world wide television is giving it legitimacy that it does not deserve. What is he thinking!!! They are murdering Christians all over the world and now he is going to put them on the same level as Christians. I’m disgusted.

And “St” JPII kissed it.

I am still amazed at the Catholics here who still reminisce about the so-called good ole days under Benedict and other post Vatican II popes. They held the same beliefs as this one. Francis is just brazen and in your face with his Modernist beliefs, actions and words. And let’s not forget that Benedict paved the way for Francis by resigning. Don’t tell me he didn’t have an inkling who would get elected. Much of the heirarchy is infected with the novel teachings of Vatican II (including those who celebrate the TLM). Only God can fix this mess.

I’m not sure whether you are Catholic as I’m not familiar with your posts, but I tend to agree.

Anyone who thinks this is just a “foolish” pope are foolish themselves. Name me one pre-Vatican II pope that would even CONSIDER praying with a leader of the diabolical sect of Mohammed.

If you’re Baptist, and the head of the Southern Baptist Convention comes out and announces he’s gay, are you going to stop being baptist? Of course not.
If I try finding a church that doesn’t have any stupid sinners in it I’d be in trouble. And so would you so try coming down off that high horse.

Not nearly as surprised as you will be to find Catholics there

Question is whether the bastard is disqualified of ancestral headship. And hence confusion reigns.

Always keep in mind who the father of confusion and lies actually is.

The savior is to or was to come through the Jews and to the Jews. If you are not Jewish, then you are a gentile. Ishmael as "father of the Islamic line," is a gentile and none from his line can bring forth a savior from the living God.

See...there is no confusion.

Not this Traditional Catholic. And I’m pretty sure there are a few others here that will never approve of this.

Three different religions, three different “Gods,” and they’re all going to simultaneously and conjointly “worship” together. Interesting. Hmmm.

The pope can. He did so in 1870 and 1950. Check it out.
