It might surprise many Catholics to learn that the doctrine that Mary herself was conceived of an Immaculate Conception came from Pope Pius IX in the 1800s. The same Pope who developed the doctrine of “papal infallibility.”

See 152 . Which is just one more thing that is not in Scripture, nor had unanimous consent of the "fathers."

Papal infallibility is a doctrine.
