Can Roman Catholics be saved? Yes they can but not if they adhere to Roman Catholic theology. Like anyone else, salvation is found only through faith in Christ alone. ...

Above is quite an interesting topic to explore in scriptures. Perhaps for another thread. God made a lot of promises to Abram before Abram took one step out of his homeland to go to the promised land. As Genesis progresses we see God continue to affirm His promises and manifest them physically. No different in the New Covenant. God is the Ultimate Promise keeper.
Well this has been done before you know?
And I might add that our friend seems to think it is different to '[prance] back and forth, beating his fist on a Bible catechism telling us we [are] all going to hell if we [don't] change out ways'.
; )
I don’t understand being required to believe? Doesn’t true belief need some sort of leap of faith, or divine intervention?
NKP_Vet:"Blasphemy!!"
Is it truly 'blasphemy'?Acts 2:
43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
I am not 'keeping score' from home but that is the second post on this thread where you clearly state something opposite from what is recorded in Holy Scriptures. The first was your homily on your Baptist minister preaching judgment and hell, when in fact John the Baptist preached similar sermons.
Good post and God Bless you. We need to catch up:)
All kidding aside, that was funny. You need a pic of that wild haired guy now
Wonder if his old pastor wore camel hair suits:)
Then perhaps you could explain how it is that the office precedes Christianity in the Roman Empire, following inexorably from the mystery religions of the near east where the office originated...
Mary was assumed bodily into heaven. Theres nothing in Scripture that says this cant be done and indeed, whats so toxic or harmful about believing that about Mary?
There are MANY things about which one can say 'Theres nothing in Scripture that says this cant be done'. Every false religion surrounding YHWH's Word eventually and necessarily goes there. What is toxic about it is the pervasive and exponential destruction of the image YHWH created from way back in the old testament - The Son... ONLY the Son. Not his mother, not a panoply of 'glorified' saints. The SON alone.
Why was it that YHWH was so angered by the Israelite tendency to change what HE said was proper form and worship? Because changing any single thing alters the shadow pictures which He had so painstakingly defined - Those things which define Him to us across all the generations. Dare Christians do the same without fear of the very same reprisal?
I only pinged you because you were the initial one being replied to by the one who WAS saying that.
That “sign of the covenant” was only applied to BOY infants. Kinda breaks down the compaison to infant baptism, doncha think? ;o)
So says Pope NKP_Vet, who has deemed the words in the Roman Catholic Church Catechism that contradict his exclusive salvation gospel as "someone's opinion"?
While I’m nervous about entering into this discussion and without actually reading the whole article the writer did mention 9 different Catechisms of the Catholic Church in support of the points he was making above.
Is he in error about what the Church says?
“So says Pope NKP_Vet, who has deemed the words in the Roman Catholic Church Catechism that contradict his exclusive salvation gospel as “someone’s opinion””
CCC 846.
“Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.336
PS: Every Catholic-bashing protestant on FR knows what the Church teaches for salvation. So ignorance is no excuse.
NKP_Vet, Do you have any scripture (you know, like from God's Word, the Holy Bible) to back up that statement? And you can omit the "footnotes", they don't count.
The Magisterium of the Catholic Church; defined as “the Church’s divinely appointed authority to teach the truths of religion”. In other words, Our Lord gave His Church the authority to teach the faithful about what is expected of them, and that is what the Church has done consistently from the start.
Thanks, I guess after I have been here a while I will know that stuff. Thanks for both the ping and the explanation.
No scripture on that, huh. I wonder why that was left out of the Bible? Could it be that Rome wanted total control over the “faithful” so declared this to be true even though it was not taught anywhere in the Bible?
No where does scripture say the Roman church was given any authority to teach or otherwise. It’s just not there.
“No where does scripture say the Roman church was given any authority to teach or otherwise. Its just not there”
Ignorance of Christianity. I suggest you go to the local library and find yourself a copy of a Christianity 100, that’s the one for beginners. Then come back and continue the conversation.
Lol. Good one.
