New Stanek poll: How often does your pastor preach against abortion?

I have a new poll question up:

How often does your pastor preach against abortion annually?

Most pro-lifers I know complain their pastor doesn’t talk about the abortion issue enough. So how often is that? Vote on the lower right side of the home page.

(Is your pastor resistant? Have him/her read what Franklin Graham thinks.)

In the last poll, 90% thought Emily Letts’ “abortion video” damaged the pro-abortion brand…

Emily Letts poll - abortion video hurt pro-choice movement

As always, make comments to either the previous or current poll here, not on the poll site.

How often do they preach about homosexuality either? They should and it should be in the context of what God says about family and life and how if we follow His design for our lives it brings health and happiness in all areas mental, emotional, physical and spiritual!

Or slavery.

There are more slaves today in the world than ever before.

What Church Pastor has the courage to watch this message ... ?

Are today's Christians able to hear and recieve a challenging and difficult, albeit "true", look at why Jesus Christ commanded "Render Unto Caesar" message ?

I, too, am a Methodist minister, but I’m from fly-over country. I am pro-life, pro-natural marriage, and very pro-Bible.

However, I am not a topical preacher. I am a through-the-bible preacher. We are close to finishing up Genesis and are at Gen 45 this week when Joseph reveals himself to his brothers. The truth is that my first priority always is to be faithful to the Bible each week.

For me to come up with some title like, “Seeing their brother again is a pro-life message” would have an element of truth to it, but it wouldn’t be true to the intent of that passage. It would be me imposing a political agenda on the bible. I’ve been in those churches where everything is an occasion to twist the Word to fit a political agenda. And being a Methodist like me, then you know that when most of us hear our liberal preachers do it that it comes out: “Jesus spoke against Republicans and Sinners”

So, I believe I’m unfaithful when I twist scripture. On the other hand, when a preacher works at communicating a bible idea, and when a story or an example would help, then if a pro-life example or story helps, and it truly helps make the point, then I would use it.

Honestly, though, there are other times when something directly fits. Shortly, in Genesis 47, we’ll see the Egyptian government (Pharaoh) taking people’s cash in exchange for his food, then he’ll take their animals in exchange for food, and then he’ll take their land in exchange for food, and then he’ll take their freedom in exchange for food...and bring the people into slavery and the aristocrats into tyrannical rule.

Being faithful to that story will be a great lesson. Government dependency leads to slavery.

It’s an entirely biblical message.

It would be me imposing a political agenda on the bible.

Please explain to me how preaching against murder would be imposing a political agenda on anyone. Or are you a pro-choice Methodist minister?

Try reading post #16 again. He explained the differentiation quite clearly. To phrase your question the way you have, you have to ignore a significant percentage of what the Pastor wrote in #16.

I will give you a moment to go back and re-read my ENTIRE post. If you come to the same conclusion, then I’ll address your concerns. My initial reaction is that you really didn’t read it.

Somehow I think abortion fall in line with one of the ten commandments. So preach it or get off the podium. Do not give me that political crap because killing is killing no matter who, what, when, where or how it’s being done.

This message is not just to you but to all pastors/priests/rabbis on this site. Hey it’s your future being murdered.
