My child was born today. She is in the ICU at Iowa City. We made it 34 weeks. So far baby's lungs are the main issue, but she is progressing ok

34 WEEKS PREGNANT – WHAT IS IT LIKE?
Did you know that if your baby is born this week, she would have the almost the same chance of survival as a full term baby? At this stage of the pregnancy, your baby is preparing herself for the birth. She is practicing breathing with the amniotic fluid, and sucking her fingers in preparation for the early days of breast milk.
Except for the lungs, your baby’s organs are now fully developed. Your baby is still learning how to breathe by inhaling amniotic fluid, which can generate hiccups. The brain and nervous system of your baby are fully formed. You baby continues absorbing antibodies from you to strengthen her immune system.

Congratulations! Under the circumstances, 34 weeks is quite the accomplishment! My twins were also born at 34 weeks - they went home with apnea monitors, but they did fine.

PS. My pastor e-mailed this evening to pray for a little boy with stage 4 brain cancer who is having surgery at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time on Friday. We are praying for a miracle. I hope you don’t mind sharing this request on your thread.
34 weeks is wonderful, may Our Mother of Perpetual Help beseech Her Divine Son to bring Dani safely home soon.
