More importantly, the promise God made to Abraham would pass through to his son. In this case the Bible records that Isaac is Abraham's only son. Thus the promises of the land and God's blessings flow through to Isaac....not Ishmael.

This is why the Israeli's have the only legit claim to any land on the planet.
