That said, what i object to among some Prot pastors is the practice of some pastors telling the people, "say to the person sitting next to you...". But occasional "Amen" or "Preach it" as fitting can be signs of life. PREACH IT!!!
I can't stand that either......

“I am very comfortable with the sign of peace. Justin Martyr wrote of it as part of the mass in his apologia to Caesar.”
So, they shook hands in the same way we do?

“To suppose it was never done in church before some arbitrary date is like saying nobody ever smiled or frowned in church because it wasnt part of the liturgy”
Not in a Catholic Mass. I could care less what happens in a protestant church. The Catholic Church has set criteria that is supposed to be adhered to at Mass. It is a very structured liturgical service. We have strict rules on how to behave at Mass. Devout Catholics that take their faith seriously abide by these rules. You are there to show reference to and worship God. Nothing else. If you want to hold someone’s hands you need to attend a protestant service, where anything goes.

I was at Mass last Sunday and that is exactly what happened.
Honestly, I find the hostility to "touching" one another's hands that has been demonstrated on this thread to be quite unChristian. What would you do if Jesus commanded you to wash anothers' feet as an act of submission? Would you refuse?

?
Some people don’t like strangers touching them or violating their personal space. If I were married and someone wanted to give my wife “holy kisses” I am out of there.

Your link is idiotic. I quote:
In her effort to conform NT pastors to her erroneous understanding of the Lord's Supper (Eucharist), Catholicism came to render presbuteros as priests
Actually *ENGLISH* rendered "presbyteros" as "priests". It's where the word came from!!. See any dictionary.
Nor is it shown that the Lord's supper was the source and summit of their church life
Yeah, God wasted his time on the last night of his earthly life, instituting it in front of his closest friends, because it really wasn't all that important.
Gotcha, thanks.

“And what if the Priest tells you to hold hands while saying The Lord’s Prayer”.
That means he’s a liberal priest that should find himself another faith. One with no rules. It’s priests like him that give other Catholic priests, one’s that are actually guiding their flock, a bad name.

LOL! I’ve never been to an “anything goes” service in my whole Protestant life. Ah yes, but I forget. Only Catholics take their faith seriously. /sarc

Most protestant services, especially evangelical/pentacostal, is one man prancing back and forth on the stage, beating his fist into a Bible, telling everyone else they’re going to hell if they don’t get straight with the Lord. Sprinkled in with a lot of hollering, singing and shouting from the audience, intermingled with AMENS every 2 minutes.

It amazes me that one single person, in a normal lifespan, has been to "most" protestant church services.
That is a superpower. Well, at least of some kind...

Tonto, I was a baptist/pentacostal/holy roller for 58 years of my life. Don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about.
