Why; it's the sincerest form of flattery; didn't you know?
Actually; I think I do MUCH better than narses.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take and eat; this is my body.
Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Fathers kingdom. Matthew 26:26-29
See also Mark 14, Luke 22, 1 Cor. 11.
So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 1 Cor 11:27-29
Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 1 Cor. 10:16
Looks to me that the Lutheran position that the bread IS Jesus’s body and the wine IS Jesus’s blood is on pretty solid scriptural footing (same verses also disprove the transubstantiation, in that they are referred to as being bread and wine). Nothing heretical about it. Was the belief of ALL Christians for the first, oh, sixteen centuries or so...
I have my doubts that you are able to know this 'fact'.
I guess I failed in my attempt to portray a rabid member of the Roman Catholic Church passionate response to one who rejects any one of their convoluted assertions.
