An Israeli lawmaker claims that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken with Chief Sephardic Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef about the possibility of ceding the Tomb of David— located in an old church building that is also revered by Christians as the site of the Last Supper—to the Vatican.

The report—which has not been confirmed by the Israeli government—comes after earlier rumors that the government was engaged in secret negotiations with the Vatican about future control of the site.

Your analogy is flawed. The Churches which have possession of the holy sites predate modern Israel by up to 1900 years in some cases.

That's nonsense...That land was given to Israel long before a church ever showed up...

“That land was given to Israel long before a church ever showed up...”

The Israel it was given to ceased to exist 2,000 years ago. There was no Israel for over 1900 years.

I wasn’t thinking of the Palestinian Catholics but the church hierarchy that at the very least is oriented towards a UN-style “global perspective” (aka: anti-Israel).

from later in the same article:

> However, last July the Israeli deputy foreign minister, Zeev Elkin, denied rumors that the government was prepared to recognize Vatican ownership of the building.
