“Catholic social ministry begins and ends with Jesus Christ,” he said. “If it doesn’t, it isn’t Catholic.”

Idolatry of equality!
The doctrine of equality! There exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.

‘I always thought pride and envy were the root of social evil.’
I am thinking all these social medias are the root of evil. They are like meth. They make everyone stupid. I know all will say, “NO, it only reveals the stupidity.” Maybe so but it causes everyone to blurt what is in their dumb brains.
If truly said by the Pope, he is wrong, proving my theory that if we get 50 percent correct of what we say in life we are doing good. All of us Christians need to stay with what the Bible says. Pride, envy, love of money....their the ones, read about them.

And here I thought it was the LOVE OF MONEY for some strange reason. How did I get it so wrong? That is because you are engaging in "private interpretation," which cannot give you assurance of Truth, for which you need the pope and his magisterium.
And which we see his interpretation of in this statement.
And which charge of like "inequality" the devil basically used in trying to climb up some other way, as he saw his exclusion from the throne of God as "inequality," and then worked the same mentality nto Eve, that she was suffering from inequality since God excluded her from being like God. Which the devil saw God as keeping him from. (Is. 14; Gn. 3)
And in which we see the first "Occupy (the throne) movement," and the first"share the wealth" campaign.

No offense, but logically extrapolated, God’is evil because God as no problem with one person having more or less than another. It’s the greed and the coveting and the stealing and everything rooted in all that that is the problem.
Jesus said the poor will always be with us. I guess Jesus is a bad guy too because He didn’t make everyone exactly equal in everything. If inequality is terrible, any and all forms of it are terrible. God didn’t make us all equal in every talent and ability and inheritance, so it must be His fault.
I am not dazzled by His biblical briliance on this one.

I can appreciate the Pope's desire to improve the lives of the less fortunate. However, there will always be the haves and have nots in the areas of love, money, knowledge, beauty, physical strength, athletic ability, mental and emotional capabilities.
Why not focus on the real issue - saving souls? Best to know Jesus twenty years too early than twenty seconds too late.

In order to eradicate inequality one has to take ones neighbor’s property and that’s coveting.
Exodus 20:17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

As a confirmed Catholic I was taught the Pope is infallible.
But it's this kind of thing (Communism) and open borders, not to mention the pedophilia cover-ups that caused me to leave the Church.
Now I think of her as Mystery.

"If you read the actual position of the Church on the issues you will find it is all common sense, down-to-earth stuff we'd all agree with. "
Uh, not likely.
The Catholic Church supports Amnesty in the US, supports Obamacare (as long as they get an exception for BC and Abortion), wealth redistribution etc.

Uh, you're confusing lip moving by liberal U.S. bishops and priests with Catholic doctrine, which doesn't have any thing to do with U.S. politics, and preceded it by centuries and millennia.

Even if we were to accept this simple statement, can anyone suggest a cure, a way to force equality of all peoples, that isnt worse than the alleged problem? I respectfully submit that permitting all people to strive to achieve their individual goals , limited only to prevent harm to others, is the best attainable social policy ( with, yes, a safety net for those who are genuinely unable to contribute sufficient goods or services to others so that they may sustain themselves decently, such as the seriously disabled). Trying to force equality necessitates a confiscatory police state. Also, it fails to recognize that not all people have the same goals - nor does everybody value the same things in life. People are not cattle or sheep. Indeed, we are taught that Gods given each of us different gifts and abilities and talents... And that God hopes we will each make good use of what hes given us. And, that God loves each of us as individuals with free will He did not design us as identical clones all confirming to one cookie- cutter design for life. As (a practical as well as) a spiritual matter, peoples individualities require recognition, appreciation, and the liberty of expression in this life. Dear Pope Francis, READ THAT

The Pope is infallible regarding faith and morals, when proposing the Church’s teaching to be believed with divine faith.
This isn’t it. And the political positions of the lefties who have been appointed as bishops in the U.S. aren’t it.
No stupid bishops and no stupid Pope are going to drive me out of the Catholic Church. They are merely a scourge that I am going to survive.
To: E. Pluribus Unum
I saw a poster once which said something to the effect of *What is fair is not giving everyone the same thing, but giving everyone what they need to succeed*.
Nobody and nothing is equal and ever will be. It can’t be done.
People need to get their eyes off themselves and perceived offenses and get them on Jesus.

??? So a baby born with Downs Syndrome is evil? A 3 year old with cancer is evil? The fact that I don't live in the Vatican, with gold faucets and priceless works of art, an infinite supply of money and power, makes me evil? Inequality is not evil. God makes each and every one of us different. We are all unequal by design! Until Pope Francis sells all of the Vatican and then distributes it equally to everyone on earth, then maybe I'll take heed of what he just tweeted. I'm confused....
