With it so much in the news right now that the Catholic Church is making two former Popes "saints." shouldn't Bible-believing Christians, and those in leadership in particular, be pointing out the Bible truth on who is a saint is? The media won't do this themselves, and the Catholic use of "saint" has caused a lot of ignorance on this most important matter.
Oh, I believe the Scriptures. All of them. What I don’t believe is some edict or papal bull or any other dogma some cardinal or pope came up with afterwards that not only is in conflict with the Bible, but in conflict with their previous or future teachings.
My faith - like my Bible - does not change on the whims of man. If for no other reason, the RC’s are in error based on the many different and contradictory beliefs they have had over the centuries.
The problem isn't with what the Catholic church is saying to its own, but what is being misunderstood by all non-Catholics, which is that all In Christ are Saints.
Protestants expect Catholics to say unScriptural things, because even the concept of Patron Saints is not Scriptural.
Should the Jewish people be calling out the Christians for adding the New Testament? Should they be angry that we changed the order of the Old Testament? Should the Catholics be upset and calling out the protestants for removing seven books and parts of two more?

and that was truly Christian of you, bless you for it. Sadly, there any a few posters who have been told they are “saving souls” so they use that as their excuse to come to a conservative site and attempt to pick fights with fellow conservative Christians.

Personally, I've never found any contradictions within dogmatic Church Teaching.
Have you ever found any different or contradictory beliefs within Protestantism over the centuries?

thanks for starting a Catholic Bashing thread....the comments will be very educational for those who don’t understand Catholocism...we Christians have more in common than different and in these perilous times, it behooves Christians to not eat each other.

It is not identifying past Christians as strong examples of Christian faithfulness that I have an issue with. We protestants do the same. We will, depending on our denomination, hold up names like John Calvin, John Wesley, Martin Luther. We consider church fathers like Polycarp and Justin Martyr shining examples of faithfulness. Some day I imagine Billy Graham name will be on that list for many.
And I think it’s biblical. Paul definitely talks about those whose lives are worthy of greater or lesser reward. That is not the issue I have.
Personally, I like JPII a lot, but I really think there was wisdom in generally not permitting a person’s own generation be the generation that sees the lasting value of that person’s work.
And, of course, there’s the old veneration versus worship discussion. That’s a very difficult line to define, the difference between veneration and worship.

Sure do. The Popes are a great example. Any study of the history of the Papacy leaves no doubt that the leadership of the Catholic Church was evil and ungodly at one time.
But not any more, right?
A sign of ignorance is getting in someone’s face and telling them their faith is wrong.
Nosey people often get their noses docked.
I tell them the truth here in FR, each time a thread is posted that perverts God’s use of the word
“saint.”
God addresses every believer who has entrusted herself to Christ as Savior is a saint. To pervert that to mean something else, for any reason - good or evil - is wrong.
