To: Trapped Behind Enemy Lines

You are aware, I hope, of many married priests from other denominations who have converted to Catholicism and taken the classes to become a Catholic priest, aren’t you.

We’ve had several in our diocese. I went to one ordination where as the newly ordained priest was blessing people; his wife and grown children were looking on with great admiration.

Yes! We have a number of married priests in our archdiocese. Mostly converts from the Episcopalian Church. And they do just fine. I’ve seen them with their wives.

They get the best of two worlds. They get the high honor of being a Catholic Priest and they enjoy the benefits of holy matrimony as well.

What is wrong with allowing priests to be married?
