**The US bishops have made many mistakes, but they cannot be blamed for the liturgy changes in other countries!**

That’s right, but the local bishops in Spain can answer for their misinterpretations.

Look up eating meat on ALL Fridays....it was not changed by Vatican II.

The Spanish exemption from not eating meat of Fridays is pre-Vatican II. I remember being very little and my mom telling us that it had something to do with the number of soldiers Spain sent on some Crusade. I don't know if she was right, but everybody I knew ate meat on Fridays... except Good Friday.

I think I've told this before in FR, but once I was spending Holy Week at my grandparent's farm (I loved riding my horse to the services!) and I was dreading my grandma's version of catfish stew. She knew how much I disliked it, so she checked with her parish priest, and bought me a lobster tail instead. I was shocked, how can anybody even think on eating lobster on Good Friday? I ran from the house, jumped on my horse and it was way after dark before I dared to return. I found out there had been people looking for me, my grandma had been crying her eyes out, and the cat had got the lobster. It was a long time before I spent Holy Week with them at the farm again.
