Liberty University, in response to a heated Internet firestorm over the Benny Hinn Ministries' Liberty University Institute of Biblical Studies (LHBI), issued a statement regarding its firm lack of association with the Pentecostal televangelist:

LOL, yeah.
I think Liberty is a Baptist University, so why is that news? And I don’t think anyone holds a patent on the word Liberty for a school.
Mike Murdock and Benny Hinn belong to an independent charismatic tv evangelism, and not any particular denomination.
I doubt any of the Pentecostal Church denominations claim or embrace either of them totally anymore. I think they are aligned more with the Oral Roberts theology. As are many of the evangelists, who belong to the ‘seed money’ theology he preached.
I believe in the book of Acts and it’s authenticity and the Holy Spirit, even Catholics have a private sect of Pentecostal worshipers within their walls. The only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, who is the giver of that gift. So I am careful not to criticize anyone who believes in the power of God’s word, even if I do not agree with their theology.
I agree with every thing you just said. I also think you need to get a sense of humor…...

Things have taken a “tern” for the worse.
I didn’t realize that this was supposed to be a humorous thread.
Well see, this proves my theory…that you need a sense of humor. You see, the thread was not necessarily humorous per se, but it was clear that certain responses were light hearted. Now, as one without a sense of humor, you made the mistake of missing the humor altogether.
