That clinches it for me!!
Hail Mary, Mother of GOD...
Does narses know you're usin' his stuff?
You don't KNOW?
1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
well Elise I am just ruminating about what protestants believe, so i am just being circumspect while chewing my cud on this one.
I have just heard tell by several protestant friends that ‘real protestants’ don’t believe in OSAS, but I wouldn’t know maybe they we4re just being snarky.
an opinion you wold like to weigh in on here?
For The Greater Glory of God
Good grief, am I emulating narses now?
If I stole you tagline or anything - apologies to an apologist.

Good thing you are not one of those RCs over in the Free Republic religious forum.
No wonder RCs often seem like they never read what refutes their propaganda, and just parrot the same polemics. I suspect they think they can gain an indulgence thereby.
Have I quarreled or fought with anyone?
Never happens here.
Is there anyone with whom I refuse to speak, or against whom I bear a grudge?
Evidently Protestants do not qualify as "anyone" in the eyes of some. Of course, I am sure their are mutual feelings.
Overall it is a good list, Catholic-distinctive things excepting, which indicts me and all on more than one violation.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:8-9)
I post it only as a means to raise awareness since I have heard of both Catholics and non-Cs who say they really don’t sin - ouch that may eventually leave a mark!
A daily Exam at night is a good habit to keep us on top of things, which is when I think of all the ways I could have used humor rather than sarcasm to make a point.
Thanks.

LOL
sometimes I think God doesn’t always wait till your dead - the proverbial wake-up call.

But having salvation wrong is more than one ouch.
That was answered also by Paul in the "and what did Paul know that you dont??" department, of that which you had truncated (left off) the passage from Philippians which in continuation of his own writing of "what" is there to be worked out, did say;
Don't fight the power.
I'll leave the word to speak for itself, as much as I can while still speaking also, myself, adding here reminder of the scripture passage metmom brought in #469 such as 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Which regarding the children of God, is written;
15 for ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, `Abba -- Father.'
6 and because ye are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, `Abba, Father!'
7 so that thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.
It's ok. Relax. There is power in the Word, which in it's pages (when eaten as scroll, the entire Word) can be found the wonder-working power of the Lamb, figuratively speaking, of course -- as to the "eating". Yet not just figuratively, but by the Spirit and the waters, one too must be born again.
The Word too, as bread broken, shared as meal, when eaten (becoming our own "flesh" when digested) can become that bread that is Him. "This is my body", as Christ is attributed to having spoke -- and as John wrote --and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
"Let's get Mikey... He won't eat it. He hates everything."
as a Catholic I am telling you it is possible, so how is it as a protestant you know better than I what the Church allows or doesnt allow???
IOW, no, you don't have any Scripture to back that up.
Almost every time some non-Catholic asks for Scriptural substantiation for something a Catholic posts, we get the old *you're so poorly catechize* canard.
I suppose that that is a tacit admission that what you posted has no Scriptural substantiation as immediate referral to the CCC indicates that it's a CCC issue, not a Scriptural one.
Overcoming evil with good.
Having the mind of Christ.
Being renewed. Living a life that honors and glorifies God.
My salvation is complete and a done deal. I am seated with Christ in the heavenly places.
Here I still have my sin nature to deal with and maturing in Christ is what needs to be worked out.
that was a direct falsehood you made about confession face-to-face - don’t act like a catholic know-it-all, when you know nothing about the Catholic faith.
You are living proof of why protestants make fun of Catholics.
AMDG
Ping me to that next time you see it, because I haven't encountered that mentality on the RF.
I went to confession plenty growing up and never had a face to face. It's always been in a booth with a window that had a screen and a sliding window for privacy.
A simple google search of images for confessionals shows plenty that have privacy screens.
I'd bet any number of Catholics can attest to similar experiences with going to confession.
So don't accuse me of being a liar.
Isn’t accusing another FReeper of spreading falsehoods against the rules of the RF?
Last I heard.......
hey Game you want to jump in on this well have at it.
On one hand we have metmom a ‘self-confessed’ fallen away Catholic who makes an absolute statement that there is no such thing as face-to-face confession in the Catholic Church.
She made that statement in direct contradiction to a statement I made about going to confession face to face.
THAT UIS A LIE AND ONE OF US IS A LIAR.
Now she persists in displaying her abysmal lack of knowledge of things Catholic.
again one of us is a liar.
if your curious who is right and who is wrong TRY GOOGLE.
