Well, the diocese of Charlotte decided to throw Sister Jane Dominic Laurel under the bus after she had the temerity to teach basic Catholic doctrine in a school that hilariously calls itself Charlotte Catholic High School.

This is so sad.
Every Lent, the evil one rears its hideous head. This year seems no different.
I pray for these lost & woefully ignorant souls. May they convert, repent, & see the Light of Truth.
Seems the nun gave a talk that was part official church teaching (and pretty Christian too) and part the opinions of a sociological journal.
The thing that bemuses me (as a wascally evangelical) is that most of the folks arguing on the referenced page seem to act as if personal dignity (theirs or some other human’s) were the chief issue. That’s a problem in a lot of churches, but we can pretty well count on seeing it in Catholic ones. Where’s Jesus?
another cowardly (or worse) bishop. what a shock. /s
Amazing. Why can’t the Church just teach the moral truths of the faith? In season and out of season. Without apologies. That’s what Jesus and St. Paul would do. And it’s the most “pastoral” thing for people to do. I am so frustrated...
In every tabernacle in every Catholic church.
Maybe that’s the problem; He needs to be walking around out there.
Most definitely. But even in this day and age, he would be spat upon and mocked, just as before.
That is par for the course. What’s bemusing is when it gets Christians fighting Christians.
Pope says marriage between man, woman is image of God
Catholic Church opposed to gay marriage
(ANSA) - Vatican City, April 2 - Pope Francis told around 45,000 faithful in St Peter’s Square that marriage between a man and a woman was a image of God’s love during his general audience on Wednesday. “When a man and a woman celebrate the sacrament of marriage, God is reflected in them,” the Argentine pontiff said. “He imposes His features in them and the indelible character of His love. “The image of God is the married couple - not just the man, not just the women, but both...
and this is very beautiful”.
Francis has made openings to gay people since being elected the head of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics last year, saying on one occassion “who am I?” to judge homosexuals who seek God. But the fact he stressed the importance of marriage between a man and woman pn Wednesday is likely to be interpreted as a reiteration of the Church’s opposition to the legalisation of gay marriage in some parts of the world
Thanks for that good quote from the Holy Father.
Jeff Mirus made an astute observation: The protesters made a tactical decision not to attack the Church’s teaching, but to claim that they were “offended” only by the last part of the nun’s presentation—the sociological stuff.
But at the meeting, parents who spoke in favor of the Church’s teaching were shouted down. The protesters’ rejection of the Church’s moral teaching was manifest.
They would if Benedict was still Pope.
Here was the first statement put out by Aquinas College. Said nothing about her doing anything wrong. Then the heat, the backbone started melting, and she was thrown under the bus. Statement was changed to make the pro-homo liberal parents happy, and in in the process ruin this Catholic educators career in teaching.

BREAKING NEWS: Aquinas College throws Catholic nun under the bus for daring to tell the truth about homosexuality.
She speaks no more. You will never hear another word from this brave Catholic teacher. Another day, another Catholic ruined for daring to speak the truth. Satan is smiling.
The events around the recent talk by Sister Jane Dominic Laurel, O.P. in Charlotte, NC have produced a great deal of speculation from many sides. Among the commentators, there are few who were actually present to hear the talk, which was not recorded.
It is the firm belief of Aquinas College that all men and women are created in Gods image and likeness and are made with a capacity to love and be loved. The College supports the Catholic Churchs teachings which are open to the diverse needs and desires of all, which must be considered in light of eternal truths.
We support and affirm that every man and woman, regardless of his or her state in life, deserves respect, and that the health of any culture is gauged according to the capacity of its members to uphold their own beliefs while respecting the beliefs of others. The Colleges patron, St. Thomas Aquinas, was known for his ability to thoughtfully consider all things and retain what is true, regardless of the source of that truth.
We believe it is our privilege to bring the best aspects of our faith tradition to bear on the moral and cultural questions of the present age. In her presentation, Sister Jane Dominic spoke clearly on matters of faith and morals. Her deviation into realms of sociology and anthropology was beyond the scope of her expertise. Sister is a trained theologian from a Pontifical University and has the credentials to contribute to scholarly bodies of work. This she has done in the past with distinction. The unfortunate events at Charlotte Catholic High School are not representative of the quality of Sisters academic contributions or the positive influence that she has had on her students. The students at Charlotte Catholic were unprepared, as were their parents, for the topic that Sister was asked to deliver. The consequence was a complete misrepresentation of the schools intention to bring a message that would enlighten and bring freedom and peace.
There are no words that are able to reverse the harm that has been caused by these comments. The community of Aquinas College is saddened by this extreme outcome and wishes to reiterate that this is not something the College condones or desires to create. There is division where there should be unity. The events and discussions that have transpired over the last two weeks reflect that there is something in this that surpasses an ordinary high school assembly.
Sister Jane Dominic has cancelled her speaking engagements and, at her request, is preparing to begin a sabbatical from teaching at Aquinas College. It is our sincere hope that the community of Charlotte Catholic High School will soon begin a process of healing and renewal, and that all who have been affected by this event will be drawn into profound reconciliation as we approach this great season that commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
