Days after discussing the U.S. Catholic bishops fight over contraception with President Obama, Pope Francis met Monday (March 31) with members of the Green family, the Oklahoma billionaires whose company, Hobby Lobby, took their challenge to Obamas contraception mandate to the Supreme Court last week.
The pope met with Obama on Thursday for the first time, touching on some hot-button disputes between the White House and U.S. Catholic bishops.
A Vatican statement after the meeting said that the two men talked about issues including the exercise of the rights to religious freedom, life and conscientious objection, a veiled reference to Obamas disputes with the American bishops (and the Green family) over the administrations contraception mandate under Obamacare.

Such anti-Catholic attitudes have existed from some of the leaders of the Protestant reformation, but nowadays most people can just agree to disagree on the disputed issues And work together on all if the shared principles The Pope and the Hobby Lobby family are both in court trying to protect their pro- life beliefs against the attacks from Obama and his people. There is a strong common bond
I, for one, am happy to see the meeting. The timing is just perfect.
Oh, and by the way, I think the original stated purpose is pretty great, too (even excluding the coincidence with the Obama visit).
The church has 2000 years of subtle messages behind it.
This was a not-so-subtle notice to an obtuse politician.
