Being there was little other "theological structure" given at that location (his comment) then why could not the scripture which he quoted, be applied as in context of the unstated (yet coupled) passage, concerning the judgments one makes towards others, will be directed towards themselves also.

There is no free lunch?

Pretty much whenever I make judgements of others I try to be careful to not “judge others”. I’ve learned that until I walk the path of someone else, I have nothing to judge. I’m kinda judging others when I don’t respect their claiming all people who drink alcohol are the “real” sinners, while they sit there asking a small chair to support their 300 lb frame as they light up another of a chain of cigarettes.

We all tend to see the sins of others and ignore our own. The glutton condemns the drinker, the drinker condemns the glutton. The couple that lives together in “serial monogamy” condemns homosexuals that do the same.

Etc...

Because your premise is wrong that there wasn't theological structure (God implores us to "judge" throughout our relationship with him since the beginning. Secondly, Jesus provided the structure; but structure is lost when a verse is isolated from the context.

Matt 7 is the favorite verse for gays. You see them holding up placards at their parades: You can't judge me is there anthem, and they quote the Bible to justify their sin.

Lastly, humans are distinct from the animal in that we are the only ones that can "think about thinking". Reasoning. Judging. You betcha.

Do a word searching on "judge for yourself" in the Bible, and you will see that it is an impossibility to divorce ourselves from judging.

We are called to judge righteously.
