Because your premise is wrong that there wasn't theological structure (God implores us to "judge" throughout our relationship with him since the beginning. Secondly, Jesus provided the structure; but structure is lost when a verse is isolated from the context.

Matt 7 is the favorite verse for gays. You see them holding up placards at their parades: You can't judge me is there anthem, and they quote the Bible to justify their sin.

Lastly, humans are distinct from the animal in that we are the only ones that can "think about thinking". Reasoning. Judging. You betcha.

Do a word searching on "judge for yourself" in the Bible, and you will see that it is an impossibility to divorce ourselves from judging.

We are called to judge righteously.

I did make mention of the most readily adjacent context, intending that to be tried on for size by the man's here present (on FR) antagonist, narrowly applied to that person's own statements.

Though I doubt there can be enough clarity of thought to accomplish the task...being as distractions such as you mention and went on a bit about, take center stage instead.

That applies to the center stage and the peanut gallery equally, would it not?
