A taboo is something that is vehemently “forbidden based on moral judgment and religious beliefs.” When confronted with a taboo, we do not consider breaking it. The line is drawn so clearly that we dare not cross it.
Incest is a good example. It is condemned in every culture. The idea of sexual relations with a sibling or one’s child is abhorrent and rejected as a matter of course. We are horrified by it. We recoil from it. It is off the table. We totally close the door to it.
This keeps us out of trouble.
The power of taboos reaches beyond visible behavior. They also do their magic in our hearts and minds.....

So, lust is coveting something that someone else has. It can be a person’s wife, his cow, his donkey, or his field, or anything he has that you can’t get but want so bad it affects your health.

David’s son Amnon lusted for Tamar, and a kingdom was endangered. It was said that if Amnon had asked David for her, David would have given her to Amnon, but NO, Amnon lusted for her till he had consumed his lust, then rejected her.
True LUST eats away at your soul. Just looking at a beautiful woman and desiring her is definitely NOT Lust, but wishful thinking.
Seeing the beautiful wife of a neighbor, and desiring her over your own wife, constantly thinking of ways to steal her from her husband, and allowing that wish to eat away at your soul is true lust.
A friend bought a brand new car. Another neighbor, who could not afford one, became so jealous that he destroyed the car one night.
You might say that LUST is jealousy at it’s worst as you want what he has but can’t find a way to get it, but you won’t let it go.
You know, for all the flack he’s taken for his confession, he’s really only admitted what is common place in men.
It’s hypocritical for everyone to judge him for his honesty as I’d wager that every single living adult has done that very thing at some point or another in their lives.

Things that are accepted as taboo can be totally acceptable in Scripture.
We have God’s law. Adding another layer of man’s law doesn’t do anyone any good.

I’m a hot-blooded, raging heterosexual American male and make no apologies for it. I wouldn’t trade my very lovely and thoroughly awesome conservative lady for any woman in the world, but I’m a normal male and yes I notice beautiful ladies. No law by God or man will ever change that. God, in fact, created me this way...that’s why ‘no apology’.
